The bathrooms have been updated! Much appreciated. The store is stocked well (would have liked just a few fresh veggie items but realize that might be asking too much). The staff at the visitor center are knowledgeable and friendly. Every hike at Pinnacles is excellent. The caves, both of them, amazing. But also just walking the campground is delightful. This was our 5th trip (we had to look at camping journals to confirm that!), always in fall, winter, and spring. I think summer is challenging.

Great campground. Amazing park. Ton of holes from animals though - be careful and watch your step even late at night. Make sure no snakes got in them (they'll hide underground when it's dark/cold).

RV area was nicely laid out and roomy. However, electrical is all that is provided. There are fresh water spouts throughout the campground to fill your tank, just not at every site. There is also a free dump station. The pool is very refreshing since it is not heated. Lots of poison oak near the trails that is not easily seen. Hike the high peaks trail by 8am to get parking and avoid long waits at the steep and narrow section. Beautiful, well done trail.

Arriving and setting up were easy, and staff were responsive. Everything was well-marked, and we enjoyed our spot under an oak that the acorn woodpeckers would play around in. Turkeys were always wandering through the site as well. We didn't use the fire pit, but it looked to be in good condition.

We had problems with the electrical hookup as well as other campers

It isn't often you can find a National Park with electrical hookups, but you can at Pinnacles! Some of these RV sites do not have shade, so pick your site closely. If you do not need electrical hookup, you are in for a treat. The sites feel private with shade - some even have a stream behind the tent areas. The treat to this park were the California Condors that soar overhead just before sunset. They roost in the tree tops near by and prepare themselves to take flight about 2 hours after sunrise.

We stayed in site number 95 for two nights, June 18 and 19. This site has a long dirt/gravel driveway. It doesn't have any shade until about 4-5 pm, so it gets pretty hot. The store and Visitors Center are within walking distance. The closest restroom was quite a walk. I'm noticing now that the map doesn't show the restroom. The one we used was over by campsite number 1. If the wind picks up quite a bit of dust blows around. We hiked the Bear Gulch Reservoir Trail and made a loop out of it by coming back the way of the Rim Trail. Really spectacular! The bat cave was closed but that was fine with me!

We have been traveling across the country for over 3 months and stayed at many 30 amp only places in our 50 amp class A. We could not get our electricity to work and when someone came the next day to test, we were told that it was our $500 surge protector and that when they plugged in their $20 test plug it showed everything was ok, we should take off our surge protector. What?!?! They would only give us back part of our money because we didn’t let them know the night before. When I told them after noon when I was trying to get a refund that I did call, I was told well, we will have to check the messages later. I was hot and just wanted out of there. He insisted again that it was my problem and not theirs. Maybe they should have someone who knows electricity to know that 30 amps is 120 volts. When metered it was running 111 to 114 volts, so our surge protector was doing its job! When we went to our next destination a day early (codorniz) hooked up to 30 amp and it worked perfectly. I felt like calling back and speaking to RC but I figured it wouldn’t help when I tried explaining that to him that day. If you have an older 30 amp unit, it should work but DO NOT take off your surge protector! The campground roads are riddled with huge potholes. I only wish we could have stayed to enjoy the hiking and they had a nice pool. Tons of wildlife right by the park was fun to watch so I gave it an extra star for these reasons.

Nice and Roomy sites, could use a few more trees. Saw daily deer and Turkey Vultures. Easy access to all trails and caves!

This was our third visit and need one more visit to be able to hike more of the trails. Campground sites are mostly well spaced out. Nice to see the cabins and more tent sites. Only wish the weather was a bit cooler. Our lesson!!

Spring in the Pinnacles is a good destination for hiking, wildflowers and wildlife. We had a many walks and a couple of hikes. Looking for condors was a daily activity. We were entertained by the woodpeckers and quail. Disappointed that we didn’t see any turkeys. Park was Covid clean and campers wore masks.

I was able to see four condors after slightly longer than a mile hike up Condor Gulch Trail. Two were expressing courting behavior and two were on the wing. I’ve been interested in experiencing the comeback of the condors, and this, my first opportunity, did not disappoint. Although there were no more condor sightings on the rest of my 4+ mile hike to the top of the high peaks and down Bear Gulch trail, the trail alone was quite an adventure, well worth the effort.

Beautiful in spring and fall, avoid in summer as it is blisteringly hot. Really convenient to have electrical in the RV loop but beware there is no water hookup only 30A power (water faucets are available). Amazing bike trail through field adjacent to campground especially for young or inexperienced riders as it is wide and flat. Nice family campground.
