During the off season it was quiet and peaceful. Got in a little late so it was harder to find the restrooms and facilities in the dark, but otherwise everything went smoothly! Racoons are sneaky though, got to make sure to stay vigilant

Well managed park. Trails were well maintained. Restrooms were clean, well supplied and working well. The only issue was that at night, the automatic light went off too fast and no hot water for the faucets, except in the shower facility. There was a good selection of campsites, from wide open, not too many trees, to quite private with lots of trees. Very comfortable camp sites.

While I loved the free, hot showers, the accessible size of the park (perfect for even a one-night stay!), the campground itself - site 4 in particular - is crowded up next to each other. I was next to site 5, and also crowded up against multiple canvas tents. This campground is likely a better fit for groups who dont mind being lined up together.
Some Coverage

It was 112 degrees and the pool was closed without any notification. Had we known we would have canceled in time for a refund and rescheduled to a different date.

Site #4 and #5 are side-by-side; the only separation was a log towards the back end of the sites. We stayed in late October, avoiding the crowds, so no issues with the lack of privacy. This site is close to the Visitor Center/Store, showers, pool, and telescopes (next to site #80). Behind the site is a gentle running stream, in front is an open field where we saw turkeys and bunnies. There were too many clouds at night but I imagine stargazing is amazing in the spring/summer when the skies are clear. My only issue was the ground was really hard from the lack of rain that our stakes kept bending when setting up our tents.

Dump station needs to be open for people to use when leaving camp, early. 9:30 is to late for people to get on the road for travel. Then it is really backed up or usage.

Fantastic site close to visitor center, campground store, restrooms, and showers. Note that sites 4 and 5 are right next to one another with no separation. Close enough to shuttle stop that you may not even need to use the congested day use parking lots. Showers are free with 5-minute limit and well ventilated. Surprisingly, there is some cellular reception via T-Mobile if you stand in just the right spot; you can't do anything substantial, but you may not need to buy Wi-Fi ($3/hour, $7/day, or $10/week) if all you want to do is check email. Very dark at night, which is great for astrophotography.

We loved the quietness and the amount of wildlife we could see, from little lizards, to a lot of dear and thousands of birds. The walk up to the East side visitor center, different landscapes and wonderful old trees. We definetly want to come back.

Generally nice, but several watering points turned off and toilets closed for repairs, with replacement dixie toilets, but they were locked, so really long walks/drives to facilities that were open and functioning.

This park had nice parking spaces and clean bathrooms. Firewood for purchase is a bit pricey. Hiking trails were well marked overall and the cave trails were a fun bonus as we had never experienced that before on our National trail hikes.

My site was perhaps too close to activity central but it was winter and a nice frost covered my tent and picnic table in the morningand it was a Sunday evening so the weekend crowd was leaving as I arrived. Great experience.

Top notch campground, I stayed at site 4 which was within walking distance of the visitor center and bathrooms (no showers sadly) the parking stalls are roomy and there was plenty of space for all of my gear----Comes with a firepit, you can grab firewood for $12 a bundle (comes with 6) and they deliver it to your site----DO NOT leave your stuff unattended or you'll get raided by the Coons, use that lockbox, it is your friend----I hiked Bear Gulch Reservoir and Condor Gulch trail, got super lucky and saw one of those beautiful birds!----Use the maps they give you at the front, helped me from getting lost

Amazing location seriously visit, it's better than you think. fantastic park staff. Helpful, friendly, knowledge.
Showers and rest rooms at camp site are in bad need of some tlc but the other restrooms are in better condition.
Not the most picturesque campground but was quiet and clean. The hiking in the higher elevations is spectacular. Hiking from the campground adds several additional miles to what can be an already strenuous hike. Plan to take a car from the campground to the upper trailhead parking lots.
The main challenge was the cold, especially in the morning. I had not tried to camp in March before this but with Covid it was the only way to see my friends. The campground was fine and now I know that I would try to get one of the more remote spots in future (we were in A3). The good thing about the time of year was that there was green and hiking in the day was pleasant - not too hot. I would go again whenever possible.
Awesome campground and even more awesome park. Such great landscape and cool caves! A little crowded but that’s to be expected in covid times.

Beautiful campground with well maintained facilities. There is an outdoor pool operating during summer. Also, a nice bonus is the coined operated showers. Trails are well maintained, and relatively short and good for all skill levels.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
