nice camp site (#20) easy check in, no problems. We hiked thre high peaks trail and saw condors, so beautiful! (the trail & the condors).

We actually saw three condors up off of the high peaks trailThe campgrounds are great and the bathrooms were clean. We were in the section one area closest to the visitor center. Really enjoy the park and we were so lucky that upper visitor center was open and we were able to talk with the naturalist.

Neighbor on only one side was great and added to the privacy of this site. Campground followed quiet time rules so the stay was enjoyable.

We loved this camp ground! The exact site we were at was fine but we would have preferred something off the main road; it sort of felt like hanging out on the road shoulder versus being a true site but it did have partial sun and shade so that was a plus. Overall this was a fabulous camp ground and we are excited to return.

We had a great visit at the park and campground. Ewe arrived a day early without reservations (on Sunday) and found our site available even though the website didnt have any reservable sites. The park was clean and quiet at night. Since we were there mid-February at the end of Presidents weekend, Monday and Tuesday had hardly any campers. Loved the park and site A-20 was perfectly separated from our neighbors. Would definitely recommend a few nights in the park for anyone wanting to hike and enjoy the beauty.

Nice enough campground with lots of private sites.

We were at Pinnacles campground in early October 2023. The weather was fine. Not too hot. The showers were excellent and the hike through the caves was a lot of fun. The flies however, were ridiculous. There were so many of them we could not stand to go out of our camper. It was better when the sun went down and OK in the morning. But, I would not camp there again.

Book early! We ended up having to move after the first day because we couldn't get the same site for two days. Liked the first spot a lot because it was large and next the a stream. The second was more just kind of a spot along the road and a hill, still nice though. The facilities are very nice and some great open areas to play some games. There is a store where you seem to be able to buy just about anything you forgot. The hiking was fantastic!

This is an incredible park! If you want to explore the caves in the rainy season, be sure to bring rainboots or prepare to get wet. But between them, the High Peaks Trail, and the river walk I can't think of anything I didn't like.

I have enjoyed camping at Pinnacles many times. A very well run and maintained campground. Online reservation system has worked perfectly. The convenience store has limited food items, mostly snacks and such, but that is a minor issue and only matters if you arrive not properly prepared. Many of the sites are quite close together so choose carefully. Since I am there primarily to take advantage of the parks Dark Sky status, I am up in the hills until the wee hours doing night photography so I choose an isolated campsite to minimize disturbance to fellow campers when I return. That has a downside as noted below.

Out of the many times I have stayed in the campground this trip was the first time I experienced petty theft. When I returned to my site at about midnight, my tablecloth and folding chair were missing. I reported the theft to the ranger when exiting the park, but she was saying raccoons stole the tablecloth (the tablecloth was attached to the table with a number of clips) and was clearly not interested. Just be aware and lock down everything of value if you are out late.

The staff was Top Rate, and they always waved and said hello. It was the most friendliest camping spot I have been to, and that includes fellow campers around! Add in Deer grazing by your site, and the non-violent raccoons that freak you out from time to time, it was the closest you can come to REAL CAMPING with top quality bathrooms and campgrounds! It was top class and I would def go back and recommend Pinnacles #1!

The camp hosts were gracious kind and friendly. He had a hammer to help with tent stakes, and later returned my car keys I dropped on way to or from camp store.

It was a beautiful campground and we so enjoyed our morning walks watching all the birds! There were literally hundreds of CA Quail, Acorn Woodpeckers (with lots of granary trees), CA Thrashers, Hermit Thrushes, and lots more. It was fun to see the deer each day and we even had a friendly, little striped skunk visit our campsite. We keep a very clean campsite, free of food scraps, so the skunk just sniffed around and went on its way. The camp hosts, a couple from Michigan, were outstanding and very helpful. Pinnacles National Park is such a gem here in CA! We hiked our butts off and even saw two CA Condors! We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

Hot! But the birds, the trails, the privacy/spacing of the sites made this one of my favorite parks to visit

The campground was fantastic. We really enjoyed a swim after our hike. The campground host was very helpful. And we got to see condors!
@MaxwellM834 · Camped on Apr 18, 2021 at Campsite #20
We saw raccoons, deer, dark eyed juncos, acorn woodpeckers, turkey vultures, a turkey, red tailed hawk, western scrub jays, a crow who proudly stole our sausage at dinner, and heard a northern saw-whet owl singing mournfully at night. The spot was private but convenient and our fellow campers were friendly. The camp store and facilities are convenient and clean. Great campground.

This was my first camping experience and had a really fun time. The setup of the tent campgrounds was great. They provided a picnic table, a place for a fire pit, and a food safe box with plenty of extra space for our tent and our car. The camp store also provided wood, either good wood or bulk wood, but we greatly preferred the good wood as the bulk wood was difficult to light. The trails were accessible by foot and by car. We opted to drive to the old pinnacles parking lot to start at the trailheads there because we were interested in doing the high peaks trail and the the northern wilderness trail (on two separate days). I would definitely suggest doing the high peaks trail because it offered amazing views and a fun bit of climbing!
The campsite also had clean working bathrooms throughout and a few warm showers. I would definitely recommend this spot for camping and hiking.

They are not kidding about the raccoons! We were at site 20 and saw at least a dozen and they are not shy. They came up and took a bag of marshmallows off the picnic table with 3 of us present at the site. Just be super aware about having food around!

Pinnacles in the winter is amazing! A must do. We hiked the high peaks trail and were lucky enough to spot a California Condor at the top of the ridge. Awesome!
