Our site was apparently right beside a raccoon den. The raccoons are absolutely relentless so be prepared. The site was level and appropriate for tent camping with good cover between sites.

I loved my quiet site, which was a 5-minute walk to the store and the showers. Having a hot shower was also amazing! I'm so used to more rugged sites, that this one felt so luxurious. The only downsides were neighbors I saw gathering wood despite the numerous signs posted throughout the campground prohibiting wood gathering and neighbors whose lights were too bright at night, which detracted from the Dark Sky Park experience. I was there in March, and there were almost no bugs to worry about.

Love this campground! Beautiful starry nights, great hiking, Condor sightings. Remember, it's cold in the winter, here. We saw lots of tent campers moving to their cars and sleeping in them overnight, often with the engine running. If you have layers of sleeping bags with decent fill, you can camp here when it's 30F without resorting to your car. We needed 3 quilt layers in our trailer without running the heat. We prefer the sites with no hookups, they are just prettier. Some campers down the road heard a cougar take down a deer, down by the creek. It was at night, so they only heard all the details. ;-D Also saw tarantulas and a harrier and hawks. Really nice rangers, lots of pleasant campers. The hiking is spectacular, with lots of fun caving along the trails and spectacular views.

Site 39 backed to a treeline and creek. It felt super private. Clean bathrooms with soap. Showers by the pool area (we had no idea there was a pool!). The showers were practical. Great back-in site kept the car close without it being a nuisance.

The trails were a nice surprise ! Moses trail to the reservoir and around that side was beautiful!! Also, the condor trail to the lookout had a ton of wildflowers, and also a lot of bugs ! Same with the campground , lots of bugs - overall a good experience ??

We really enjoyed the tails and hikes. The park itself was very clean and well maintained. We did not know that there where restrictions on the use of a generator so our 25ft trailer with no hook ups at 95 degrees was a little warm. Although, we highly recommend those who have a trailers to book a hookup site and enjoy all the park has to offer.
