There is a serious problems with raccoons. Last year, I had between 1 and 5 raccoons patrolling my campsite. This year, there were 13! My daughter opened the car door and then went to get the stove at the picnic table to put it in the car. In that brief moment, raccoons jumped in and grabbed food. With that success, they circled our campsite for 45 minutes looking for another treat. They were not afraid of humans at all.

Turns out that the swimming pool was not operative during our stay. If this is important to you, you might want to check before you arrive.

Roomy, private and fully shaded, a rarity at this campground. Some of the branches hang low, so watch your head! I loved falling asleep and waking to the sounds of nature- the creek burbling below, frogs ribbiting, birds singing above. The raccoons are brazen! I saw one crawling into a car through one door while the person was unloading from the other side. Another neighbor had some food stolen within minutes of arriving. Still another neighbor accidentally left their car windows open before retiring to their tents at night. The raccoons got in and had a party before the campers realized their mistake. We heard the commotion into the night as the animals fought over their spoils in the bushes nearby. Place your food inside the locker, and keep your car doors locked!

Our campsite (37) is located on the far side from the entrance, but we did not mind. In fact, it is very well shaded and provides ample of space for us (group of 2). We used a midsize SUV and can comfortably fit into the space, but a truck with camper shell be a little tall for the particular campsite.

PNP itself was great as usual and the store staff were unusually helpful this visit. However, the Recreation.gov reservation system for overnight camping was confusing: I meant to reserve three nights and three squares showed up when I made the reservation but it turns out the site highlights you CHECKOUT date as well so I only had two nights. I have run into other friend who also made this mistake - be careful when making your reservations!

We went in April 2024. Well maintained campground. Nice to have nature center, small market, showers and pool available. Campfires allowed before summer. Best hikes are a short drive away. Poor phone and web reception but available near market for small charge.

Clean, efficient, and friendly staff. Sites were tidy and not fight on top of each other in general. Clean bathrooms with free showers.

We enjoyed our stay in the campground, 2 people with a tent. Information we found were helpful. Just as a suggestion, if you plan to go to visit Bear Gulch area in crowded period consider to go early enough in the morning or you'll encounter problems with parking!

Great site, close to so many trails so easy to get a space and get to sites before they got busy. This site was great! So much shade and privacy, could look down in the creek to see racoons, deer, turkeys. Spotted condors at sunset. A lot of bugs, but thats to be expected, bring bug spray. Some cell service.

We have camped ay Pinnacles before and love the high peaks and the trail along the creek, especially in the Spring when the wildflowers are in bloom.

Unbelievable amounts of noise until close to midnight. It’s not a campground, it’s a night club. And there was no ranger patrolling that night at all. I didn’t stay the second night of my reservation because I didn’t want to put up with a second night of that. I would at least partial reimbursement for the second night.

Pinnacles was so beautiful! My trip(3/8-9) was during the storm, the mountains were so green. My campground wasnt too muddy and very nice as it was right next to river! The site was very large and could definitely hold like 3 tents?

A very clean, organized campground. The facilities were really clean. Our site was a perfect size. Had a creek flowing through it. The trail around Pinnacles was fantastic and adventurous. You can see the impressive Condor. Bring lots of water, a snack, and remember to leave no trace behind. Definitely would come back.

I spent 3 nights camping at site 37, and really enjoyed this campground! This was my first solo, multi-night camping trip, and I felt very safe and comfortable. The staff and rangers were very friendly and available, the camp store was well-stocked, and I enjoyed using the free shuttle service. The stars at night were stunning! The bathrooms are well-maintained, and the showers at the front of the campground were delightfully warm and clean. Many other reviewers mention the raccoons- beware! They have clearly become very comfortable with people, and will not only attempt to steal your food, but one approached me and begged for the dinner that was in my hands! Thankfully, their behavior was easy to track, so I got used to eating before the sun went down then securing everything in the provided spacious food locker. I look forward to returning to this campsite in the future!

We love Pinnacles and camp here at least once a year. Lots of wildlife viewing, great hikes for all skill levels and a pretty sleepy campground despite it being nearly full for this trip. The fire danger is usually high when we visit however for this trip, we were able to have one for the first time ever. Bonus! We recommend bringing your bikes for added fun exploring the park. Be sure to stock up on supplies as the nearest town is 40 miles away. Best to just set up camp and not have to leave. And don't forget your bathing suit. The pool is nice when it is hot. Enjoy!

Bathrooms in our section were closed. Porta potties provided were over flowing and unusable. Handwashing station had no water. Bathroom in adjacent section of the campground was also not working properly. We left early

I love Pinnacles. It's not like some National Parks that hit you over the head with epic beauty right from the parking lot. Pinnacles is more subtle, makes you work for it. First time? Get there early, try to get a spot in the Bear Gulch lot. Plan to hike the High Peaks loop. Bear Gulch Caves are really fun and totally worthwhile, too. But to have the "ah-ha" moment at Pinnacles, I think you've gotta do High Peaks.
@NancyE185 · Camped on Apr 14, 2021 at Campsite #37
Clean and pleasant campsites. They are a little close together but the neighbors are always nice. The trails offer splendid views and bountiful spring wildflowers. The Blue Oak trail was a special treat. As a senior lady, I’ve learned to go slow, stop when I please, and enjoy all of it.
