Great location that gave us easy access to trails, National Monument and Cripple Creek! Bathrooms are composting bathrooms and there is well supplied water pump at the entrance to the campground. Full cell service on T-mobile and Mint Mobile.

Site #4. Very nice campsite and campground. Clean site and clean restrooms. All sites seem nicely spaced so you are not on top of your neighbors. Next to the water pump but not much traffic due to it being such a small campground. No cell service (verizon) for duration of stay.

A little close to the highway, can hear cars driving by- but a good location between mile eleven canyon and reservoirs, and the fossil monument. Camp site was large and spacious with tree cover

I love round mountain, my hubs and I go at least 2 times a year. We went last weekend and I would have given it more stars but the new camp hosts had a white pitbull that they let loose and it is NOT a friendly dog. It is a dog you keep on a leash with the owner at ALL times. It ran loose and came onto our camp spot and was super aggressive and acted like he was going to bite one of us. We were pretty nervous.. This is not a good way to host anyone. Please keep your dog leashed and by your side if it is not friendly with others.. The new hosts camp area looked awful and trashy..Im nervous for this campgrounds future.. It was a great weekend besides that..We hope Keith comes back soon! We really miss him!!

This campground is amazing. There are a ton of trees and enough space between you and your neighbor to feel like you won’t wake them up with your 5am cup of coffee. Keith is hands down the best campground host I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and I cannot wait to bring my family back.

This is a very nice Forest Service campground with plenty of space between campsites and relatively good privacy from your neighbors. By itself, I would definitely give this place 4-stars and quite possibly even 5-stars. There are vault toilets, which we found to be clean and well stocked, and a manual water pump that you can use to fill containers. There are no hookups for RVs, there is no dump station, and there are no potable water sources suitable for filling RV tanks, so prepare accordingly. The night skies were crystal clear and dark enough to inspire awe when looking up at night. The location is remote and offers beautiful views within a short hike from the campground. There is zero cell coverage from AT&T, so this place could be a wonderful place to disconnect and relax with friends and family. So why only a 3-star rating? The area directly to the north of the campground is apparently some kind of Mecca for dirt bike and ATV enthusiasts with seemingly unlimited dispersed camping opportunities. And during our stay at Round Mountain, the Motorsports enthusiasts were less than respectful of those of us seeking quiet relaxation in nature. Despite ample signage stating that Off Highway Vehicles (OHVs), meaning dirt bikes and ATVs, were prohibited in and around the Round Mountain campground, there was what seemed to be a constant stream of OHVs racing through the campground at all hours of the day and night to use the vault toilets and get water from the pump. I also have to note that the camp host, Keith, made a heroic effort to enforce the rules and keep the OHVs and their riders out of the campground, but he was just one guy trying to hold back the tides. So there is significant potential for this to be a great campground, but keep in mind your actual experience here may depend on how considerate the OHV crowd to the north of the campground decides to be during your stay.
