Wonderful escape from the city, the cabin was as described. Rustic and comfortable.

This cabin has everything you need for a family trip or a romantic weekend getaway. The kitchen is well stocked (just missing trash bags) to make whatever meal you are thinking and the place is clean with lots of cozy nooks to curl up in. Yes there are flies but it's summer time in the rocky mountains so that is expected. You even have some cell service to stay somewhat connected. 10 minutes from the Bishops Castle and 20 minutes from the interstate, some restaurants and I-25 (40 minutes to Pueblo). The fireplace is great (though we didnt use it as we are outdoor fire enthusiasts) and the few groups before us left enough firewood for us to enjoy a few evening's worth of fires. All in all a great setting at a great price. FYI The issues of the clogged sink and non-flushing toilets were fixed by the time we arrived.

We were given quite a laugh by the letter left to us from the previous visitors who could not believe that they had to clean the place themselves. They also left a fire burning outside and didn't clean out the fireplace. We had to do quite a bit of cleanup on their behalf before we even unloaded. So, please, read the rules for this cabin. Yes, you have to clean it yourself. We did have an issue with the sink as well because they put food down the drain (clearly marked NO FOOD). But the maintenance guy helped us clear it. Also, the microwave no longer works and I don't think they have the money to replace it. It was nice to have but not a necessity by any means. If you have a microwave to donate, please bring it.We love Lake Isabel and are grateful for the opportunity to stay here whenever we can.

Kitchen sink drained very slowly, other then that it was good. The weather was horrible, but that's not the cabins fault. Would have been more enjoyable if we could have used the fireplace. It's a very cozy cabin, the mattresses were fine. The front needs a screen door. The bathroom window crank not cranking. Complimentary toilet paper would have been cool, also a trash bag or two. I would recommend this cabin to any one of my family and friends. We are looking forward to our next time staying, hopefully with better weather.

The kitchen sink would not drain. The toilet would not flush and had to be plungered 7 out of 10 times. And the microwave would not work. Also no bucket so I could mop the floor.

We have come here every winter for the past few years to enjoy the sledding hill across the street and we have always had a good time, but this year it was showing some wear and didn't seem to have been tended to in awhile. There had always been a good pile of firewood in past years but this year there was none so we had to go buy some. The fire place doors were falling off the hinges and we were not able to get the oven door open to cook dinner. We always clean and mop while we are there but since the price has went up I would be nice to see more up keep on the place

Great location and beautiful cabin, well kept and clean. Basic amenities, perfectly perfect for a few days, a week or even more. Built in 1952, solid wood, stone fireplace, private grounds, kitchen, living, dining, bath and bedroom; a real pleasure to be there. Its a quick jaunt across the road to a gorgeous lake, babbling brook/creek, national forest and trails.

Great place great experience. However Its impossible to get a hold of the rangers and reservation.com is totally unresponsive to adding additional nights. The Friday Saturday rule is ridiculous.

We have been to Lake Isabel cabin several times and always enjoy it no matter the season. Great cozy place with everything you need, we look forward to our next visit in July.

Nothing wrong with the cabin or experience that we had. The cabin was clean but the only thing that was bad were all the dead flys on window sills but we wiped them up. The Cabin has adequate heating so leave them space heaters home! The cabin has enough cooking utensils, pots, pans, and dishes so you dont have to worry about that. Would be wise to bring paper plates or plastic wear. There is cleaning supplies under the sink but I would recommend bringing disinfectant wipes. There is some bedding so bring more. Enough firewood, for one day was supplied so we had to get more but again, its not necessary because of the adequate heating. The only things we needed more of were toilet paper, trash bags, firewood and soap for bathroom and kitchen. Lots of fun things to do around the area and places to see but we just wanted to get away from the city.Tip for using the fireplace: if it gets too Smokey and the smoke starts coming into the cabin close the glass doors on the fireplace ALMOST completely, like 3/4 the way, so the fire will suck the air through that opening and the smoke will go up the chimney

There are improvements made in the cabin. There is new vinyl flooring in the kitchen and bathroom. There is a new toilet. Everything is in working order. We visit this cabin a couple times a year and have been going for about 5 years. It has seen some decline since then. I do not believe there is a dedicated cleaning person and the last couple years have been rough in that department. This trip however, the cabin was clean. We were quite happy with the condition of the cabin and there was also firewood which is always appreciated. I haven't written a review for this place before, but I wanted people to know that if you've been here in the past and were a little let down, try again. The price is still unbeatable and it is fun and beautiful.

I have stayed at this cabin many times as I love the beauty of the outdoors at this facility. The last few times, I literally have become the cleaning lady, not at all what I had planned. With all due respect, I should not have to arrive and have to clean out the refrigerator because it is so dirty, I don't want to put my food in it. Additionally, I have to mop and sweep the floors, because that has not been done. During our last visit back in early June, the toilet was plugged and we had to wait for two days for it to be repaired. It is unfortunate that I can't enjoy the first few days that we arrive, because I am always cleaning somebody's mess. I have always left the cabin and all appliances, bedding and floors clean, I would expect the same courtesy.

Wood pile not restocked, screen door missing, inside locks not working, refrigerator door wouldn’t stay closed, bathroom floor wet from leaky toilet, dead flies everywhere, flue stuck or clogged so fireplace couldn’t be used anyway without smoke filling the room, sheets and towels were left behind, minimal silverware, no scrubbie for dishes & dishsoap almost gone. Overall cleanliness was very poor. I don’t know when the floors got mopped last or the tub scrubbed. It felt like some man’s rustic hunting lodge instead of a place to get away from it all and relax while enjoying the fire.
This was my third visit so I know how it’s been maintained in the past. Needless to say we were very disappointed and probably won’t be returning in the future.
This is a beautiful place and it should be treated alot better than it has been. Hopefully someone will look into this soon.

Great location, great price value for the money. However cabin needs a deep cleaning more often. It was evident some people did not clean as requested. Also, someone had a pet staying with them in the cabin. Would like to see more cleaning products on hand

Great cabin and experience. The only complaint was that the range was on self clean when we arrived and was so hot that we had to unplug it, it was literally hot to the touch.

This was our first time staying
here, my husband, daughter and great granddaughter spending the night. My granddaughter and her husband stayed for the day which is nice because they live in Pueblo. We had a great time.

I've been here twice now and the cabin is the bombdiggity. I would have written in the guest book, but they tore out my last entry (rude) so I didn't bother this time. Other than that, the cabin is just perfect for a short getaway. The lake is in walking distance and the fireplace is the perfect touch. Don't make a fire if it's too windy, even in a fireplace - who knew! :)

What a wonderful place to spend time with the family. With only 1 bar of intermittent at best cell service and no internet, the members of our family (ranging from 2 years old to mid 50s) actually spent quality time with each other, preparing meals, playing board games, cleaning up after meals, going down the sledding hill across the street, etc.

There are lots of board games in the closet, and we brought some of our own. The sledding hill doesn't look big, but start mid way up the hill at first as it can be a quick ride down. If you sleep like the princess in "the Princess and the Pea", try bringing a hammock and sleeping in that, slinging the hammock between the sturdy posts in the bedroom as an alternative to the bunks or convertible sofa in the living room. Or bring an air mattress if you have one and prefer sleeping on one of those. The stove seemed practically new and was easy to use. Beautiful word work on the inside of the cabin. The kitchen had plenty of utensils and plates and cups, etc. Bring towels as recommended. We forgot a sippy cup for our two year old daughter but drove back toward I-25 to the Family Dollar store, and they seemed to have everything that a combination grocery store, hardware store, and pharmacy without prescriptions store would have, but is a 20 mile drive each way. Better not to forget anything, but if you do, Family Dollar is there. :) Thank you. This is a national treasure to be shared for generations to come that is a form of therapy that most families need. The three days and two nights did actually change us individually and as a family for the better.

Clean, large cabin , nice fireplace with wood provided. We went last spring to kayak, this time in January we had a great time sledding. The trail behind the cabin is a lovely walk. You cannot get a better cabin/scenery with this price range. Worth every cent and more.

The location of this cabin is amazing and room interior is beautiful.
There are some electronic goods, but there is not dryer. So, you should bring it and some towels.
We really enjoyed staying the cabin for 3 days.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
