Site was nice and spacious, our tiny camper fit in easily. Plenty of trees so the site felt fairly private. Restroom was clean, site was clean and dumpsters were available. Some road noise, but it did quiet down at night. Unfortunately, the picnic table cannot be moved.

One of our favorites for the last 45 years! Lots of hikes, St Elmo Agnes Falls, multiple nice hot springs, nearby restaurants, even shopping. Campground is not crowded and has good shade.

We love cascade campground! Our site was perfect (a little hard to back into with a trailer we had to pull in the opposite way). Facilities well exceptionally clean and the campground host was amazing. We will be back for sure!

A very nice campground, well maintained, beautiful sunrises and sunsets over the mountains and walkable distance to Chalk lake for some gorgeous views and fishing (and a lot of Stellers Jays!)

Beautiful area, only drawback was my campsite was right next to the road. Also it is a popular campground and difficult to get a reservation. There are two other campsites nearby that were closed or it would be much easier to find camping. On the more expensive side to reserve a campsite and pay the recreation.gov fee

Absolutely gorgeous! The fall colors were stunning!

Lovely Campground. Though it was quite busy. I couldn't believe it. The reservation situation is out of hand. Many people were angry that first come first served is not really a thing. Somehow people reserved those sites. It even happened to me. I wanted to reserve three nights. Could only reserve two as the third was listed as FCFS. I figured I'd go anyway but when I got there someone had reserved the two nights immediately after me. Shouldn't have been possible according to recreation.gov. Though I knew it wasn't the hosts fault. Sheila was so sweet. The person after me canceled and I was fortunate to stay on the dates I wanted. Many angry people drove through that campground cursing about no FCFS. It's awkward. Anyway, the toilets were mostly clean. Water was available (though quite yellow). People were generally well behaved at night. Firewood was expensive at 10 dollars a bundle so stop elsewhere locally and bring your own. There is no service at all (Verizon).

We love this campground! Have been coming here for over 11 years. Only wish that people would respect the reservation system. Its there for a reason. Unfortunately someone was in our reserved space refusing to leave after we waited all day (1:30-6:00 pm) for them to return to the campsite and move.

Good points------------------I stayed in site #12. Large site and lots of privacy from surrounding sites. Nice shade with lots of trees with even a couple good spots for a tent if desired. I was able to string up my hammock. Site is level, only needed about 1" of lift, and was easy to back into. There is a bathroom nearby (pit toilet) as well as potable water to fill up a bucket or jug. The Chalk River is literally across the street and can be heard from the campsite, which was nice. Mt Princeton Hot Springs are about 4 miles away and would make a fun daytime event. Restaurant is expensive, but there is a small mini-mart to get cheaper food. St Elmo Ghost Town is about 10 miles up the road and is another thing to do. Bad Points:------------------Site #12 is literally right on the road. Maybe 50' from the trailer. This road is quite popular as it's the main way into St Elmo Ghost Town as well as a lot of off-road trails for vehicles. So you have lots of people driving large vehicles towing ATVs from about 6:30 am until 8:00 pm. So, very noisy during this time. Also, if my kids were still small, I probably would have tried to move to another site. Unless you watch them like a hawk, they could easily wander onto the road and the vehicles would not see them in time as there is a ton of vegetation blocking the view around the curve. The speed limit on this road is probably 35/45 mph but people drive faster. Cell Service------------------I have Verizon but only had 1 bar or service. This didn't matter as I couldn't get texts, data, or calls. I had to drive back down the road about 6 miles past Mt Princeton Hot Springs before I could text, call, or get data. I didn't care too much because I like being away from all that, but some people do care.

Beautiful wooded campground. Close to St. Elmo ghost town - 6.5 mile uphill bike ride. Things were very tidy. Jake, the campground host, was great and helpful.Be aware, the water source is a hand pump and not suitable for filling an RV.

The camp host was wonderful - helpful, solicitous, checked the campground often.

Jake, our campground host, was truly the best host we've ever experienced in 4 decades of camping!!! He was always checking on vault toilet cleanliness and supplies, checking in with campers, getting new arrivals an open site, cleaning fire pits immediately after a departure and more. Cascade has always been a fav but Jake and his dog, Carrie, added so much to making our experience there even better!

June 24 was my 3rd summertime trip to Cascade. The campground hosts have all been efficient, though some were more friendly and helpful. In 2020 I camped 5 nights in Site 20. Last year I camped 6 nights in 21. This year I chose Site 18, and stayed 8 days. They have all been great sites, but 18 was perfect for me. Its very handy to two restrooms, the water pump, and dumpster. Many dont like its proximity to the road, but I did not find the traffic intrusive, and I was camping solo with a Harley-Davidson and small pop-up, so I was outside at all times. Its definitely close enough to the creek and Cascade Falls that you can hear it all day and especially at night. One afternoon I had two does show up on my site momentarily, before they saw me and scampered across the road to the safety of Chalk Creek. I had plenty of shade, but also had good morning sun on the site to recharge my solar battery which powers a CPAP machine, plus the little things.I highly recommend Cascade!

Beautiful campground with well spaced, well maintained campsites, many with views. The dirt road leading to it was in good shape. Nice hike from the campground.

Loved the location and our particular site was perfect! Private and secluded. Loved how close it is Mt Princeton, and St Elmo. Campsites and bathrooms are clean and the views are incredible.

This is a gorgeous campground - and quiet! We loved it! Just the drinking water looked suspicious after you worked to get it out of the well.

We enjoyed our stay at Cascade Campground. By far one of the most spectacular campsite we have had in 6 years of camping. We were in site 19 and it was perfect. Jake the host was helpful and provided assistance and guidance as needed. We went fly fishing at the lake, and across in the creek. The hike to Agnes Falls was gorgeous and not too difficult. We relaxed at the hot springs one afternoon. We suggest coming in with full water since the hand pump is really not an option.

Definately 5 star experience, the grounds were clean and the host was helpful and gracious.

Loved our first time experience here! Probably one of the best campgrounds we've stayed at. Spacious and private sites, super clean restrooms, and a friendly but not intrusive campground host. We stayed in #15 which where we could hear the roar of Chalk Creek and hardly noticed any car noise. There is a trail from the east end of the campground that almost connects to the Narrow Gauge trail , but be careful, we almost lost our dog who got out of her harness and into the road when descending down the short but steep part of the trail - then it's a short walk to the Narrow Gauge (along the road). Lots of forest to walk the dogs as well. Some sites had circular "forts" made of the many rocks in the area - amazing fun for kids. Would absolutely stay again if we can get in!

Beautiful campground with nice trees and river. Peaceful in the evenings. One of my favorite campgrounds. The only problem I had this year was the road had more potholes. When you have an RV it's not like you can avoid them.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
