Here are some good and bad. Long walk to the lake. Sites are not level and need repairs. Campsites are close together. Great fishing.Great camp host.A lot of wildlife. A bear came within 50 feet of us. Beautiful views.

The campground was beautiful and the bathrooms were kept very clean. We stayed in site 4 and it was on a pretty big hill and was hard to find a decent flat spot to put our tent. Tent pads wouldve been very helpful as a lot of the sites seemed to be on a hill. Other than that we loved everything!

Great camping close to Colorado Springs. Be ready for the wind and afternoon Thunder storms.Camp hosts were awesome.

The campground itself is fine, but my campsite, number 12, was the worst in the entire campground. Upon arrival, we saw it, and luckily there were other campsites available, so we moved number 12 is on the edge of a barren hill, looking out over a barren landscape. And the wind was so strong, we were unable to do anything, so we had to move.

As always a wonderful experience but this time we had the best camp host ever! Jan was so pleasant, helpful, and kept the restrooms the cleanest weve ever seen anywhere. It is one of the highlights of our summer camping to go up to Thunder Ridge to relax and enjoy Gods beautiful creation!

spacious clean sites at a beautiful location

Beautiful spot, amazing views. The only downside is right next to the parking spot is a trail to/from the lake that is very busy throughout the day. I car camp so the privacy was not as good as I would have liked, other than that, amazing. Rampart never disappoints!

We visit this campground at least once every summer. Its always beautiful and quiet. The wildlife include turkeys, deer, chipmunks, and we even spotted a bear once. Bathrooms are always clean. Campers are usually in smaller trailers and tents. We love the easy hike from camp down to the reservoir. Fishing is also great! It can be a bit windy at camp and storms can move in and out quickly so always be prepared for weather.

I love the Thunder Ridge campground, great sites and not too crowded, with easy access to the reservoir. The host kept the sites maintained after each group, and bathrooms were clean as well. She was also available to purchase wood. And check-in at the entrance was a breeze.

Fantastic campground. Lovely views. Awesome hosts. Good sized sites with room for our group of young and old people to enjoy our sites. Primary reason it's 4 stars is the rule about not swimming/wading/body contact with the water at the reservoir but no one could explain why. Also, some of the sites, the tent pad was at such a brutal slope I almost slept on the table for a level surface.

Lovely, forested campground. The camp hosts were awesome. They were personable and always working. Clean bathrooms and fantastic experience. Highly recommend

Pad wasn't big enough for tent 10x10 so make sure you double check. Luckily our space was big and we put our tent out in the grass and host didn't mind. Clean bathrooms, short walk to lake!

We stayed in Site 012 with our 22' Travel Trailer and a Ford F150. This site has fantastic views of a valley and the Reservoir below. Easily the best views in the entire campground (Site 11 is the next best). There is a nice large sandy area, a picnic table and a post to hold a lantern. There isn't a whole lot of shade, but there is one large Pine Tree near the picnic table. No shade where the trailer parks. A water spigot is right across from the campsite. The pit bathrooms are a couple hundred feet away and there are no sinks. A trailer requires about 6" of lift-leveling on one side. Good distance between neighboring campsites too. Very quiet at night. Verizon cell service was one-bar LTE, but I was able to stream Game 7 of Stanely Cup Finals on my iPhone (with frequent dropouts).Few drawbacks to the site: 1) Warning to those camping in this site with a trailer. This is a pull-in site and not a pull-through or a back-in site. You can back-in (we did), but you will have to go around the loop backwards and the road is very narrow. If you happen to be driving around when someone else is coming in, it's going to be a real nightmare for someone to back out (probably impossible). When we left, I had my wife stand where the road was two-way before it turned into one-way and hold up people if they came in while I was leaving. 2) There is a very steep drop off on the right side if looking into the site. Be careful backing in. It's tricky. 3) The trail down to the lake runs immediately next to this campsite where the trailer parks. If backing-in to the site, it will literally be 4 to 5 feet away from the trailer door. However, if you pull-in the door to the trailer will not open to the trail. 4) Steep stairs down from the trailer spot to the picnic table.

Beautiful campsite, overlooking the lake. Things we wish we knew before we went: 1. Nothing is flat - bring a real bed for inside your tent or you'll be sliding down the hill in your sleeping bag inside your tent ALL night... 2. What makes for a beautiful view is a hazard when camping with a toddler. Site 12 (and those adjacent to it) over look the lake/reservoir, but the hill downward is a bit scary for a clumsy 3-year-old. The sites on the other side of the loop are woodsy and safer for small children to run around and play. 3. Site 12 is right next to the walking path to the lake. If that's a plus for you, yay! If you have a dog that barks at anyone walking by, maybe choose a different site farther from 12 or 13. 4. Campsite bathrooms are literally enclosed structures with a hole-in-the-ground toilet. There's no real sink, shower, or running water in the bathroom. There's a spigot with potable water every few campsites, but you're going to be brushing your teeth at your own site with water you got from the spigot. Again, this is fine and all part of camping, just something we didn't realize when we booked this camping trip for a first-time camper (adult) and her 3-year-old.These are just points we now know and will take into account next time. Other than that, the place was as expected. Grounds were clean. We appreciated there was wood at the campsite for a fire. The picnic area was comfy and even included a post with hooks for hanging things (like our dog's leash, lantern, and our trash bag). Grounds were fully booked but everyone was respectful and noise level was minimal.

Site was obviously raked just before my arrival, the site was clean organized and conveniently located with good space between sites. Our camp hosts were friendly and not intrusive. Toilet facilities were exceptionally clean.

We stayed at site #15. Very soon after we arrived, the campground lived up to its name and it started to thunderstorm. We enjoyed the storms from inside our tent and the next day enjoyed walking on the trail to the lake with an umbrella. The trails are nice and smooth and easy to walk despite the rain. The campground is quite pleasant and our site felt private even though we had camping neighbors on all sides. We could not find a completely level spot to set up our tent out of the sun on Site #15. The intended pad was sunken and rocky. The camp host was amazing (A++) and said that they planned to improve the pads for next year. She kept a very clean restroom and was super helpful. She even provided hand sanitizer!!! We would love to come back and try to get sites #13, #12, #11, or even #10 that overlook the lake. Overall, we had an excellent experience!!!

With only around 21 sites, this campground was peaceful. Very close to the Rampart Reservoir which is a no wake lake, made it even better. Road going there was a bit rough with our trailer coming from Colo Springs but still manageable.

Stayed right by the bathrooms, never smelled them once. Sight was clean and well maintained. Even enjoyed the hike down to the water (though someone should get a chain saw and clear the down trees blocking the trail). Definately adding this to our yearly camping rotation!

Thunder Ridge Campground was amazing! From site 7, where my family stayed, we could see the reservoir during the day and CO Springs city lights way off (like super far off) in the distance at night. The sunrises coming up over the lake were beautiful! About a mile-ish hike down to the water (trailhead found by site 12). There is no swimming allowed, but you are allowed to fish from the shore. Site 7 sits right across from the vault toilets which was very convenient with traveling with 4 kids. The campsite pad comes with a very nice picnic table, fire pit, and space for a 10 person tent (what we have). Could probably fit a 12 person tent as well. Drives are pull through style, which was very nice. The campground host was super kind and helpful and always available! This camp ground was also very peaceful and quiet, which if coming from a city, is what we were looking for. We would definitely stay at this campground again.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
