Camp host accused my group of defacing federal property. A forest crew came and replaced the site number marker chiseled the marker number to be 23 instead of the 22 it was made with and painted the number, normal camp maintenance activity. The camp host did not know this happened so instead of asking our group what happened she ran to her boss and told her boss we painted the number yellow, her boss referred it to the enforcement officer who promptly showed up and minced no words when he told us we had committed a federal crime by painting the number. We told him it was the maintenance crew and he of course did not believe us, however took the time to check it out, and guess what we were telling the truth and we don’t pack yellow paint in our camp gear. All of this could have been avoided if she had asked if anyone knew why the post had yellow paint in it, instead she assumed we painted it and in the process defaced federal property. There are lots of other camp grounds around. I would stay there and avoid this place.
