This is a good park close to the Columbia River, John Day Dam, and the Maryhill Museum. It sits at near the mouth of the John Day river where it enters the Columbia. Its well run and clean. As the campground has pit toilets, the only place to shower is in the day use area bathroom. The showers were not clean, and the doors were propped open, so there was no privacy. We chose not to use them.

Quiet park, friendly staff. Website says shaded sites but all trees are young, shorter than my rig.

Wonderful Corps of Engineers campground. Reservation on Recreation.gov was easy, campground was extremely clean & well maintained. Friendly host at checkin; sites have nice hard surface driveway; water & electric at site; great view of river. Yes, some highway noise from I-84, but easily overlooked. Stayed only one night as was passing through but could see spending a few nights, probably not much longer as really, the only access to & from is I-84. GREAT EXPERIENCE!!
