Being super close to the trails was a huge perkIt was fairly quiet with the road noise depending on your spot. The biggest complaint was just that bathrooms weren't kept up the best and the smell and flies were a lot to deal with at times. Otherwise very clean

Would have got the highest rating if we had not been without water for 3 days! I believe we are entitled to a parcial refund!

Love this campground! I wish the generators were less and quieter though. We come for the sound of the river and the wind in the trees.

I was disappointed that the toilets havent been pumped and were almost at the top (it takes months for this to happen)- the smell was HORRIBLE and the flies even worse! The camp host tried, but there was only so much he could do. There was no trash cans at the campsites- only two at the restrooms. Speaking of trash, at the front of the campground near where the host stays, the two giant garbage cans used for all of the campground garbage were completely filled and literally overflowing! During this same visit (8/2024) even though the fire danger was moderate, there was also a fire restriction prohibiting campfires which was really bad because there was no way to keep the bugs away (which they were probably worse because of the toilets and trash issue).Lol, all this being said, the campsites themselves were very clean and well cared for. It was quiet and peaceful. We will definitely give this place another try and hopefully our next experience will be a bit more pleasant :)

Beautiful place,, just watch out for the wasp nests off the trail

The published map of the campground is inaccurate and uninformative. It doesn't show the hiker-biker sites. It doesn't offer any information about the rates for each site. It needs to be revised.

So nice to have a quiet campground! Enjoyed the trails, biking, the birds and the river.

This site is a gem! Perfect location at the end of a lollipop loop in the campground with a trail to river access (shallow enough for littles to play with lots of tree canopy for keeping cool on those hot pnw summer days. LOTS of space between sites here, fresh water and ample dishwashing stations. Bathrooms were clean. We loved riding our bikes at the Alsea Trails just across the street and hiking to Alsea Waterfall, absolutely perfect location! Loved and plan to return again and again.

The drive through the forest to the campgrounds was gorgeous! This is a beautiful campground! Each campsite has a log fence surrounding it, so it feels very personal. It is quiet (no RVs) and there is not a bad spot in the campgrounds. I would love to see more campgrounds set up like this. You can hike to the falls on trails from any of the campsites. I hope I can get there again.

Beautiful campground, well maintained. Toilets were kept up and so long as people closed the lid, they weren't smelly. The bugs were insane, but it was super hot and muggy when we were there so maybe that's why. The river was great for wading, and safe enough for kids. Definitely bring water shoes. We brought our bikes and took them down to Alsea Falls, but the trail to the top of the falls is smooth and relatively flat. I wouldn't try a stroller unless it was an offroad type. There are no bbqs, and no hookups. There are multiple water spigots through the campground and dishwater dump stations, and pit toilets. No showers so bring biodegradable soap if you plan to use the river for bathing. There is NO CELL SERVICE until you drive out about 20 minutes. I have Verizon. We did bring a Garmin InReach and that worked, even though there was decent tree coverage. Firewood was $10 a bundle.

Great time of year for wildflower photography, but cold and rainy. We had a campfire daily as weather permitted. Tent area has large rocks that will hurt your knees. Love the corrals to help tie the tarp up to keep the rain off our tent. Saw a park ranger almost every day. No host yet. Will come again when my family's schedules allow.

This was by far the best tent camping spot ever! Remote but close to a small town, perfectly maintained with easily accessible water and super clean vault toilets. We loved everything about this campground and the hikes and waterfalls were the icing on the cake!
