Beautiful campground! We enjoyed the view of the river. The campsite was clean and spacious. There was no cellReception for us on Verizon.

I showed up and used the provided wi-fi to pay for the one open campsite that night. Had to pay an $8 "reservation fee" even though obviously I was there without a reservation. Making payment for a site dependent on devices and internet out in the woods seems like a system that's both designed to fail, costs campers more, and is against the whole spirit of the place.River is real pretty right here though, but there were signs about toxic algae in the pools around the rocks and dogs who had died from it.Campsites are also real real close together.

We stay here every August as a family gathering place, you can fish, swim, play horseshoes, we play croquet, you can have scavenger hunts, walk the trails. We also float the River. The overall experience is excellent for families. short distance to Sutherlin or Elton and less than an hour from the coast.

Very pleasant campground. Pit toilet was clean, my site #7 was level and had a paved driveway. I only overnighted here and it was raining so did not check out the trails. There is a covered picnic table area with a sink that would have been quite helpful had I wanted to cook. My site was right on the river. I saw stairs in the Day Use area that went down to the river. The Umpqua was very high due to a lot of recent rain so I could not determine if there was any beach area. I will definitely come back here. The only down side was no AT&T cell signal.

love the campsite clean bathroom but the vaults were so stinky.

Pristine campsites, raked like a zen garden not a speck of litter. Mowed and care for grounds and just loved the horseshoe court, took me back to childhood. The water access had wide paved trails with stairs to the bedrock of the river. Late summer was the perfect temp for a swim. The bathrooms were as clean as could be with electric light and fan ventilation. The only ding would be the highway traffic noise across the river.

I have lost count of the number of times I have enjoyed Tyee Campground. It is one of my most favorite campgrounds. The sites are always clean and no trash can be found anywhere. Several sites with a river view. The fire pits are the kind that are high and nice to cook on. Fire wood is available for purchase. Picnic tables are wheelchair accessible. The ports-potty is always clean and filled with paper. The water is potable and garbage cans conveniently located. Nice trail to walk or hike. The park is paved and nice if you have children with bikes or scooters. Horseshoe pits and an open area for outdoor games. What made my visits so special over the years was having Earl as a park host. Earl made rounds on the golf cart and always welcomed campers with a hello and smile. Earl is retiring and as happy as I am for his retirement I will miss him at Tyee Campground. We campers were gifted to enjoy volunteer Earl.No cell service. Reservations must be made online. There is a cell phone for local calls. You can call during business hours to reserve a site. Most sites are shaded with beautiful trees. If you're dependent on solar it could be a challenge. Only negative is that one has to eventually leave.

It was nice to find this campground as there wasn't much else in the area and I wanted to go up the Umpqua River scenic byway. As in all campground pictures, it didn't show the site very well, and wasn't a good one for my van. I had no cell coverage so spent an hour? on the phone changing the site to another one that was open. The sites are along the river, a bit close for me, and had a small trail here and there down to the river. The hosts were GREAT, and the vault bathrooms clean. I had hoped to stay a second night, but not enough trails to hike or privacy in my spot.

Just spent three nights at Tyee. The campground is right on the Umpqua River. You can walk on rocks out into the river if you camp later in the season. With all the rain this year the water level is very high.
The campground is beautiful with paved road and sites. Most sites are large enough for camper and tent. Great host, Earl, keeps everything clean and is very helpful. No cell service. Some phones would receive messages. Favorite sites are: 07, 08, and 09.

We first visited in 2020 in our 22' Class B, but Tyee was closed due to CoViD lock down. Traffic along the 138 was almost non-existent. Not so today with many logging and big rig trucks along 138. City dwellers might not notice, but country folks might. The parking sites are nowhere near level, so you will need extensive leveling capability in an RV or trailer. The sites are rated for 52 feet, but about 15 feet of that is not parking. We had to park our Chevy Spark sideways to fit behind our 32' Class A. Sites 1-10 are on a loop which is difficult to navigate with anything longer than about 25 feet.Site is well maintained and the staff are friendly and helpful. No mobile service to speak of. OTOH, it's nice to be unreachable.

My Girlfriend, and I chose this campground off the map. We wanted a location near the Sutherlin, Oregon area and a some 'primitive' camping. Not knowing the reservation system, and no cell phone service we showed up unannounced to a 'reservation only' campground. No worries, a very nice gentleman, named Earl, the host, quickly got us squared away and we called and booked a campsite. Pulled in to my gals hand picked spot near the Umpqua River and had a great camp up and Zen experience. All the campers and locals are very chill.% thumbs up. Morock

A nice campground overall, probably best for a short (1-2 night) stay given proximity to highway and other not-so-nature-like settings. Only south loop is open during the offseason it seems; sites 1-3 border the road, site 4 is sort of in between the road and the river, and sites 5-10 are closer to the river. As a note, the vegetation is not super dense, so I would avoid sites 2-3 (very visible from the road) and site 4 (butts right up against a private property with full visibility) unless you are in an RV. There is not much privacy between sites either. Note that the sound of cars is generally stronger than the sound of the river, which takes away from the "in nature" feeling (hence why I would keep this a short stay unless you are in an RV). Site facilities are standard; nice pavilion area near the north loop. Cell service dropped off for me about 4 miles out from the turnoff for the site.

The bathrooms were very well kept and fresh smelling! Our camp spot was nicely labeled. The area looked clean and well kept. The campsite was near the river, which sounded very peaceful. There was a beautiful walkway along the river, which was a bit aged, but still nice to walk. We also enjoyed a short game of horseshoes! All in all, it was a nice experience.

The campground area is well maintained, sites are very spacious, and the bathrooms are kept clean. Earl, the camp host, does a wonderful job and is engaging with the guests. There are several entries to the River from the campground which makes Tyee a perfect.

Camp host was gracious and shared their WiFi with us so we could make an account just so that we could pay to stay there. So kudos to the camp host for helping us out. Shame on campground management for requiring network connection to pay for your campsite.
