The camp host is awesome! Hope to see them again! Thank you ?
BLUF: Good place to spend the night traveling I-5. River play for children available.
Good: Facility well built. Sites are level with stone, buildings VERY well constructed and appear maintained. The development of this facility reflects a lot of personal love and attention by the BLM caretakers. Nearby summer homes reflect that this area attracts people to recreate on the river with inner tubes and fishing. Proximity to the I-5 means easy access from distant locations.
Bonus: River access is steep, by wood stairs or paved path that can accommodate wheels for most of the distance. River level was low, and the bottom is nearly solid stone, no beach or small rocks to contend with.
Bad: Trash bin location VERY close to sites 10, 11, 12. Sites are closely located, and the trash bin attracts yellow jacket wasps. Smell in summer is powerful, likely from fish guts deposited by fishermen. Bin does not get emptied frequently. Location of Bin could be away from sites, near road, but it isn’t. Had to eat dinner in pavilion because wasps were so active in site 12.
Bonus: Local visitors likely know this because sites 11 and 12 seemed to be short term reservations. People from local area camp well away from trash bin. Mosquito bags were hung by campers in the bushes, so heavy insect population is a known risk by those who frequent the area.
Recommend relocating the trash bins away from sites, close to road to enhance camper comfort.
