The setting was spectacular at first look but there were a lot of small things that kept it from keeping up with that. First is that it rained the second night and if I hadn't been camping suspended, I would have been sleeping in a small lake. You would think a bluff top site would have some drainage. The second issue is that the nearest working water spigot was over in the A loop. Other than that, the bathrooms were clean. It was mostly quiet. View was nice as was the sound of the ocean at night.

We loved our 1-night stay at Kalaloch Site D-36! Nice level pad for our RV/van, with plenty of room behind the van to setup chairs to enjoy the ocean view and do some scent practice with the dogs. We loved seeing the ocean out the back and side windows of our RV too. It was worth practicing on the reservation system and being ready to select this site at 7 am PT.

It was an excellent weekend. The tent area on the roof is suitable for two tents (3-4 people) and offers good privacy.

This is one of the most competitive sites I've dealt with. Luckily there are many, amazingly I was able to reserve one beachfront after 2 years. You can still see the distant ocean from many others that aren't beachfront. We tried to get the same location two nights in a row. The folks who got one night arrived at 10 pm, set up half a tent, got drunk, slept in their car, and then left before 8am. It was a beachfront spot. People can camp respectfully on forest service roads nearby if they need a place to rest for the night and see the forest. If you're reserving a beachfront campsite for it's parking space, think about leaving it for a family who will be on ocean all day, watching their kids surf, or who will be exploring and appreciating Kalaloch for the gem that it is. Maybe those folks will come back sometime and really get to enjoy Kalaloch. The staff was wonderful, the provided wood was pretty rough and full of knots, bring a big axe to use it, and the sites were clean. Awesome to have a merch nearby. Wish we could have been there longer. Please don't wash off sand in the bathrooms-- there are signs, but some people did it anyway and it clogs the sinks for everyone else and the hosts to fix. Get a bucket of water and rinse off outside. Bathrooms were getting new roofs which was great, they are taken care of and it's obvious that keeping this campground moving forward is a priority. Check out the beach at low tide, walk all the way to each end. Tons of waterfalls, eagles, even a seal. Watch out for waves. Some cool things washed up from China and Japan. Remember to take a handful of plastic back from the beach. Kalaloch is nice with it's dumpsters at the front. Check out the Really Big Tree off the highway to the north. Seems like an underrated spot to see the oldest cedar that exists on the whole planet. Steep gravel road, saw some dirt bikers up that way. Beautiful wildflowers. Kalaloch is within driving distance to Olympic for the day as well.

This campsite was excellent, with a beautiful view, clean and semi-secluded site. Access to the beach was really close. The bathrooms were clean and the whole campground was amazing- I could not find a “bad” site!
