This is not a great representation of the NPS. If you're just looking for a jump off point to Sol Duc entrance or even Hurricane RidgeElwha is closedthen go for it. We stayed in site A11. Pros: On a lake, some nice trees, 2 miles from Olympic entrance (NPS pass) and Olympic Discovery Trailhead (need WA pass), Most sites are shaded.Cons:Connected to, but not part of the camp is a boat landing/swimming area that was packed despite warnings for swimmers itch posted, and both dog and human poop on the ground. The sites are on top of each other with zero privacy. Sites are not level. There is only one camp host (there are other host sites that just have cones in them) to serve a three-loop camp which leads to other issues including dumpsters being overloaded & trash just tossed on the ground nearby (bears?). The sites aren't being cleaned between guests, bathrooms were not cleaned during our stay. There was no soap or antiseptic. The bathrooms were filled with bugs, 1000s of bugs that swarm out of the toilet when you try to use it.Speaking of bathrooms...The A bathrooms are closed for repairs. That was no disclosed before we reserved the site in A loop. Probably because they have porta potties which: 1. are so full, poop is coming up OVER the toilet seat. 2. They are on a hill and urine is running out and down the road into other sites. 3. Someone notched peep holes over the end units looking at the urinal. WTF. Finally, there is a camp store. The store is currently cash only. Not a big deal in itself, but there are signs listing prices on things like food and ice and stickers, etc that are all wrong. So when you go to the register you get charged way more than expected. When you say, "Hey, why am I being charged so much? The sign says 'X'" the response is a shrug and a,"Whattya gonna do." Literally, pointing out that you're 20 miles away from other options, so pay the $9 for wood.
