My overnight stay was on Tuesday and Wednesday nights (9-10 Sep). Stayed in campsite 85 with wide back-in site with 30 amp and water hookup (although I did not use) and very close to shower facility. No other campers near and was very quiet. Shower was very warm and facilities clean, with exceptions of some small spiders and other little things.

We love the location of this park and the natural beauty of Kaw Lake stunning. The park itself was designed and built in the 60s and hasnt been substantially updated since then. Very few of the camping pads are level, with many so out of level that there is no way you will get a Motorhome leveled on the pad. The pads all cater more to tow behind travel trailers, which have only one axel and are therefor significantly easier to level when the pad is grossly out of level. The park was mostly empty during our mid-week early-April visit to allow us to try several sites until we found one on which we could level our 22-ft camper van. The staff was friendly and helpful and easily moved us to the new campsite without hassle.

The natural beauty of this park and of Kaw Lake cannot be denied. Red rock lake shores, expansive views of the placid lake and breathtaking sunsets all contribute to making this a must-see. The USACE facilities however have all seen better days and are in dire need of repair, replacement and upgrade. Most all of the asphalt and concrete in the park is cracked, broken or missing entirely. Restroom and shower fixtures are vintage 60s and 70s but lack all charm and nostalgia due to their deteriorated conditions, and the restroom and shower buildings themselves are in dire need of attention too. The majority of doors did not stay closed in their own and gaps in walls and roof joints are haphazardly plugged with pieces of foam rubber. But perhaps the most significant concern for todays campers is that almost every campsite pad in this park has a distinct and often dramatic slope towards the water. Id wager most single axel trailers could set up and level adequately on these pads, but motorized vehicles will largely be out of luck. Even with our small 22-ft Motorhome, it was very difficult to find a campsite we could level on. Vehicles with longer wheelbases will be very hard pressed to safely set up their rigs on these slanted pads. Electricity hookups worked very well during our stay, and water spigots were located throughout the park although we did not use any of them. The only garbage disposal is a series of dumpsters located outside of the park entry gate near the dump station. This is a bit of a walk from the campsites and may possibly contribute to lazy campers littering their campsites. Indeed, we did find quite a bit of trash in and around our campsite. The camp hosts at the entry gate were friendly, knowledgeable and extremely helpful when we needed to switch campsites due to the previously mentioned leveling issues.

The bathrooms are in serious need of drainage repair. Standing water always in Women's Restroom across from Osage Cove site 22. Electrical needs updating to 50 amps
