We showed up around 7:15pm after driving 8 hours to find someone had set up camp in the site we had reserved. Could have been an honest mistake, except there were no attendants around to find out what we should do next. We were too exhausted to argue with the other camper, so we picked a site nearby and prayed no one would show up wanting their spot. It was nerve-wracking. In the morning, we couldnt find the water hook-up for the site. The campground itself was really nice with a gorgeous lake view and plenty of space between sites. Unfortunately we wont be back because why reserve and pay for a site ahead of time if its not guaranteed?

This park is extremely clean and well laid out. It's easy to get to and the views are amazing.

Great site for our one-night stop in SE Oklahoma. We arrived on a Tuesday night so the campground was sparsely populated but the sites are space well enough to be comfortable even at capacity. The campground loop has curves, hills and trees that create a bit of a challenge for larger rigs. Site 17 is a waterfront site perched on a hill with water, electric, a covered picnic table and fire ring that offered a great view of the lake and sunset. Perfect for our one-night stay but not the best site for a longer stay, if you like to use a screen tent or want space for games, due to the slope. Not all sites had water hookup and some sites have shared water. Check the description on each site when making a reservation. Verizon cell service adequate for one night. Some road noise coming across the lake from the nearby highway which seemed to quiet down after 10 pm. Dump station near the entrance was easily accessible. We would visit again if our travels take us back to this area.

Enjoyed our stay at Johnson Creek. We were able to camp at a waterfront site and had easy beach access. The sunsets were beautiful. We drove through Madill, which has a WalMart, so we were able to purchase groceries and the park is also an easy 20 drive to Durant. Durant has restaurants and a large casino. The casino is very kid friendly, providing entertainment with a movie theatre, arcade, and bowling.
