It was just fine and nice spot to have the kids hang out in the woods.

Water in Bumping Lake was the perfect temperature for swimming. We loved all the little islands and coves - very pretty lake. Site 47 rates high for convenience, but low for privacy. It is directly next to the dumpsters and water spigot for the whole lower campground loop and right across the path from one of the restrooms. As a result, it's very convenient but also noisy with people arriving all the time to dump trash and fill water containers. Essentially no privacy, though there is a nice spot back into the trees a bit for pitching the tent.

Nice enough back-in site in the more rustic side of the campground. Somewhat level site, with picnic table and fire ring aft of the parking pad. I had to dig out the leveling blocks to have enough height to get the rear of my rig level. I didn’t notice a good place for a tent to be erected on this site. Also it was right next to the dumpsters, so site privacy was limited and there was frequent slamming door noise from the dumpsters. It was very nearby the hand pump for water. It is a short bike ride to the day use and boat ramp area. And apparently there is an ad-hoc trail from this camping loop down to the lake. Tall trees provide good shade in the early morning and late afternoon, but the cannily is rather thing, so little protection from mid-day sun. Only discovered that there is a fee based RV dump station on site once we got there.

My personal favorite Campground, Bumping Lake does not disappoint. My family and friends love getting together in their spacious campsites (most are pretty roomy, but there are a few small ones) and living the good life for a week each summer.

Pros: Lake access is a quick jaunt from any campsite (10 minute walk or 5 minute drive), long sturdy picnic style benches, camp chipmunks, and firepits are standard to each site, trails for exploring are exciting to explore for most ages (not stroller firendly) with "surprises" left behind by previous hikers, deadwood beach is a must see for climbing, photos, and all the thousands of tiny froggies, the lake is gorgeous both by day and by night (you gotta take a moonlit walk and enjoy the stars in all their beauty over the wide open lake) with plenty of room to swim, tables to picnic at, and plenty of shallows next to the boat launch for young swimmers to enjoy. Last year we watched as dozens of brand new dragonflies emerged from their chrysalis and dry their wings all along the deadwood beach (opposite the boat launch). This year we witnessed one ant army (RED) lay seige to another ant army (BLACK) and launch a raid to steal the black army's larvae. It was an epic battle to say the least. We also made friends (ish) with our campsite's resident chipmunk (don't forget to put your food away carefully) and a crew of four very bold birds (Gray Jays maybe). Their is always an adventure just around the corner at Bumping Lake, I hope you and yours enjoy it as much as we do.

Excellent place for camping, very spacious places lake is not too far from campsites, plenty of space between sites our site was a bit on the dusty side (powder like) and during our stay there was a fire ban, but over all is a great place for camping
