Kachess is a spectacular setting in any season. It's "quiet" (see more on that in a minute) because it's located 15ish minutes north of the interstate, and the way the campground is spread out with multiple loops across a huge area means even wandering around within the boundary of the place is a fun and rewarding way to spend time. I really love it, and have already made another reservation to return to the Gale Creek loop. The reason I identified the Gale Creek loop as the only one I will ever stay at again is the noise. I stayed on Memorial Day weekend in Beargrass site 45, and the absolute and total rudeness of my camp neighbors just blew my mind. LOUD music played at ALL hours of the day and well into the "quiet hours" in the evening completely ruined the otherwise peaceful, rainy weekend spent in the woods. What really surprised me is that there are rules posted and handed out in a pamphlet, but the camp host did nothing. I am normally very conflict-avoidant, but I actually spoke up to my direct neighbors twice (once when they were playing loud music and singing along to it, and once when they were encouraging a little kid to yell/scream at like 11:30pm). I also had to walk across the campground to a site in the middle of the loop to ask them to turn down their booming electronic music as well. It was just too much to handle and I was not going to sit there and take it all weekend. Ultimately, both groups reverted right to being very loud and obnoxious. So the weekend was kind of middling. Here's the thing - I support having fun, being a bit noisy during normal noisy daytime hours, and am not normally a wet blanket. But come on, people! We can do better for each other. And the camp host needs to be more proactive in ensuring everyone has a fun time.

Our favorite camp spot. Large well maintained campground with lots of space and friendly staff. Highly recommended.
