Bandits roost has been one of my favorite campgrounds over last 20 years however over last two years there is a notable difference in the grounds keeping, landscaping and restroom areas. My last visit I picked up half of a 13 gallon white trash bag of litter at my site when I arrived. Over growth of vegetation around campsite area that used to be routinely trimmed back was overwhelming. I strongly believe the contracted people that now handle all of this just dont care about the grounds anymore. It seems like they are doing just enough to keep the contract versus hiring people that would actually care for the grounds. I hope this place gets back on track because I would hate to lose such a great area to camp at!!!!

There is a spot down below the campsite on the reservoir that people like to gather and can be very noisy. This happened with us on Saturday night. Well past the 10pm quiet time. Luckily Friday night some storms came thru and that keep people away.

Very well organized and safely ran place. One of the cleanest campground we've visited in the past.

The campground itself is lovely and well-maintained with clean bath houses and helpful staff. We had a few problems with our individual camp site. We are tent campers and chose #64R in the non-electric loop. This turned out to be a poor choice for tent-campers because even though there were many trees, the obvious place for the tent was in full sun for more than half the day, making it too hot and stuffy for summer camping. Also, we specifically chose this site because it appeared to have private swim/kayak access to the lake. But, alas, no. We endured a parade of other campers (and often barking dogs, too) traipsing through or near our site wanting to get to this same area. On several nights young men occupied the beach until all hours laughing, shouting, buiilding a bonfire on the beach, and bringing boats and jet skis in and out of the little cove until the wee hours. If you choose #64R, be aware of this challenge. This less than stellar experience will not affect our future interest in the campground; but we'll be sure to choose another spot. We used this visit to reconnoiter for future visits.
