We had a wonderful, fun-filled, family weekend. The campground has a lot to offer and was very well maintained. We cant wait to go back!

While I was at Bandits Roost a tree limb fell on my head. I have been permanently disfigured. PLEASE make sure that the trees look well-intact if you are staying in a heavily shaded area. I think that this problem should not have happened. These trees need to be maintained by the rangers. This could have been my kids. I am not bitter towards the park because I realize this was an act of God, but I do think that the rangers should be aware of the condition of the trees in the area. The limb that fell on me was rotten on the inside. I looked up after the incident a few days later and I can see that the rest of the branches on that one big branch look like they are about to fall as well. PLEASE, check the trees when you go camping. This should be done anytime you camp and you will be spending a long time in one wooded area.

I went on a Friday-Sunday. The whole camp was quiet until Saturday, but I had forgotten it was a holiday weekend. The lake was swarming with people to be expected. My site had a nice view of the lake & a small trail leading to it. Unfortunately, there was some trash & cigarette butts left by other campers. I was able to hang my hammock & tie up my kayak right in front of my campsite which was great! I kayaked around the lake & found a couple small pebble beaches to swim by, although I highly recommend water shoes. There were tons of trails & great views to hike to in the park & around the area. We even went to Boone for lunch. The 24 hour key pad to the park was convenient for when we wanted to drive to catch a sunrise. There’s ice & firewood sold at the park entrance. I would recommend getting a site with a water spicket nearest by.
