Nicely designed newer sections of the campground - still seemed to require a lot of leveling work (by us and others). Paved roads throughout the campground for exercise walking or biking. Some additional gravel trails are also available. Park staff only visible Friday through Sunday when activity/traffic is heavier. Lisa at the main entry kiosk was super friendly! We saw a work crew come through to clean restrooms, showers, and shade structures but scattered trash throughout the grounds didn't seem to get much attention. We stopped into the visitor center and learned that many nearby roads had been closed off due to fires. Also, the nearby Tent Rocks National Monument was closed indefinitely.

It was a nice park. Not all the loops were open so I am not sure why. We spent 3 nights there. The view of the lake was beautiful. Each site had a picnic table with a cute covered structure over it. We visited Santa Fe and Albuquerque as this campground is between both. It is on a hill so walking to the bathroom was uphill on the way back. We did not see any staff to check us in or ask any questions. Overall a great experience.

The directions you get when clicking the link on the site do not take you to the campground. They take you to the reservation about 3 miles down the road. Judging from the reaction we got when we approached the gate, this is common. We arrived a little earlier than the 1400 checkin. There was a camper still set up in our site and didn’t look like they were ready to move. There was not an attendant at the office nor a camp host, so we approached the camper. They said it was first come first served when they got there even though our name was on the site post as being reserved. We ended up moving to another site as we had a long drive the next day and just wanted to get some rest.

There are no amenities close by except a gas station just outside the campground. They do have some food and necessities but it’ll cost ya.

The campground itself was nice, quite, and clean. The electricity and water worked and there is a dump station as you exit. There are not any lights in the campground so it gets dark. The walk to the comfort station is eerie after dark.

Nice campground. Bathrooms need work in the area of cleanliness.

Beautiful park, nice sites and friendly staff. Utilities were good. Loved being able to see the sunsets, the stars and the sunrise!

Very clean park stayed in buffalo section. Santa Fe is near by lots of sites. Also a great alternative for the Alburquerque Balloon Festival

A really nice campground. All the sites are very roomy and arranged in a terraced layout. Area is well kept and clean. Looks like fishing, sailing and hiking are the primary activities. We stayed two nights in the 50 amp area in a 36' motorhome.

Arrived on a Sunday when the campground was only about half filled. Beautiful high campground, mostly open, with good site separation and lake views. Asphalt loop and pull-through driveway with a moderate slope to the front. The site was long and had an extra parking spot at the back. Covered picnic table and fire ring provided but no fires were allowed during our stay due to high fire danger at the time. Picnic sites and day use areas were still closed due to the pandemic restrictions but during normal operations this location is surely very busy. We didn’t check the restrooms and showers as we use our own facilities but the campground sites were pristine. Camp hosts were friendly and very informative. Excellent cell service due to being up on the hill and a cell tower within sight of the campground. The Cochiti Lake mini mart, just about a mile away, has gas, food and a great laundromat. Easy drive to Santa Fe or Albuquerque. Will return to this campground if our travels bring us back to the area.
