What a great place to camp out and watch the sunset. We had such a nice experience. It is an older campground and is due for some love and upgrades but we found that old school charm to be perfect

The camp host were extremely rude and aggressive. I showed up a day earlier than my reservation. The female camp host said I could stay at the group shelter for the night for $18. I explained to her I was camping with friends and they reserved the site for the weekend but we booked/reserved different camp sites. The host wanted me to camp with my friends at a croup site even though there wasn’t enough power for three Rv’s at that site. When I asked about the power and water the lady became rude and the man became aggressive and started to raise his voice at me. The group shelter was paid for by my friends. I asked if I camped there would I get a refund for A-2 they said no so I insisted on keeping my reservations. The lady then changed the amount she was charging me from $18 to $60 cash I said I’ll pay it on the site she and her husband insisted on cash. at this time they said they could call the rangers. I told the man I don’t appreciate his tone and aggressive nature and that they were welcome to call the rangers. I paid the $60 and left the host camp site.

Pretty area, sites have a view of the lake & are decently spaced. Only 1 loop has power & water--others are dry camping. Can be very windy!!! Some hiking trails between campground & swim area.

Loved this campground! It was very clean and well maintained. The hosts were extremely helpful and friendly! We had a wonderful time.
The hosts were excellent! We will probably pass through there again if we can get a reservation. Only real disappointment is that nothing I saw on the reservation sight tells that the water for the lake is so extremely low. The regular swimming areas are inaccessible as the water is so low. Our grandson was with us and was wanting to play in the water. The fishing was a bit of a climb down to the water as well. But again, the hosts were fantastic!
Awesome location! Beautiful and sites are spacious and easy to level. Close to everything—Taos, Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, Española, Los Alamos, Valles Caldera, Bandelier and El Santuario de Chimayó—and all in one day if you are a little wacky like us.
The new reservation policy should be rescinded. Though it did not affect me this time, there needs to be a fraction of the campsites that are no reservation walkin. I saw a camper with no reservation turned away with the campground 2/3 vacant. Not right!
