Very nice campground for being so close to Vegas. Supremely clean. We stayed in two different spots and both required quite a bit of leveling blocks for our pick up, but definitely doable. Spots for tents, though, was very nice packed sand and level. We were in sites w/o shade structures. The ones with shade structures looked like they may have been a bit more level and they also have a paved picnic area and seats by the fire pit. Would stay here again if I was in the area (and it wasn't the middle of summer).

Exceedingly poor signage within campground. The narrowly placed fencing funnels new arrivals directly into the host spottry to get out of there by turning around if another arrival or two does the same thing right after you! After exiting the host spot the next trial is being directed to the RV loop which turns out to be 4-5 dry campers on a dead end. Finally, the actual area that is correct has no signage indicating which way to turn for a range of site numbers. Unlike any of the other dozens and dozens of other NPS or BLM campgrounds. Our site 35 was very steeply angled and almost impossible to get into because the road way had two deep holes in it marked by orange safety markers that had been there for what appeared to be years. An hours worth of digging and hauling in some fill material would have remedied this allowing those with trailers to be able to enter and level our rigs. No sign of hosts over three days. Very strange and dissapointing place. We camp about 3 months out of the year throughout the western US and this was really out of character.

Good staff, great they recycle and accommodate for an extra night!!! The showers are clean but could do without the chain pull. Trying to wash long hair is a challenge. And water can be al little warmer. Overall great place!!! Thank you.

I mainly go to Red Rock Canyon campground for a home base that is close to climbing objectives. It is perfect for maximizing the climbing time and minimizing the driving time. The campground is very clean, and the camp hosts are super friendly. The vibe at this campground is very relaxed. It was very peaceful at night while I was there and other campers seemed to abide by the quiet time posted. It is a spartan experience. The sites are large and there is a fire pit and a barbecue as well as a picnic table. Some sites have sun/rain shelter and it would be pretty important for someone in a tent. A lot of campers are in vans or trailers. The sites are windy and sun exposed. I suppose weighing your tent and staking it solidly is a good idea in case of strong gusts. There is water available at taps and pit toilets with solar lighting. I have been going there for years. Love the desert vistas and night skies.

Not too crowded, fairly quiet and beautiful desert. Windy at times but not terrible on this trip

There was no water for 11 of the 13 days we were there, and many of the bathrooms only had one of two sides open, even though the campground was full everyday.

Convenient location to Red Rocks and beautiful setting. My only suggestion to those who are van camping or hauling a trailer be sure and check to see if the individual site parking area is relatively flat. Many of the sites close to the earthen berm (on the west side of campground - furthest away from Host) have a slope for vehicles (although the tent raised platforms are flat). Also, the Host's internet is unreliable so making a quick change on Recreation.gov couldn't happen. We had to drive to town.

This is an excellent camping location just minutes from the Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center and Scenic Loop entrance. The campground is nestled in a bowl surrounded by desert mountains and far enough from the main highway to be very quite. The only reason I didnt give it the highest rating is that it is reservations only with no overflow camping. It is always difficult to get more than three days here unless you are lucky enough to book different sites and are willing to relocate.

Very clean and also quiet. Easy to find your site because there are no trees. Whuch is the only reason for four stars instead of five. Speaking stars, they fill the sky at night despite the glow of Vegas behind the hills to the West. Scenic mountains to the East tease you to go visit Red Rock Canyon preserve ($17/car) just a few miles away. While youre there its worth taking a moment to visit Carillo Basin (free) as well. The camp hosts were very accommodating and also very present with regular and frequent patrols. Pit toilets got cleaned every morning and even smelled nice. Lots of folks with pets, but no barking dogs this trip. We camped in the winter and it got chilly and a bit breezy in the evening, but our campfire was cozy. Make sure to bring your own wood. Ee didnt see any for sale on site. We had a travel trailer, but about half the folks there had tents. Choice sites are all on the west side of the campground. The campground itself is pretty simple and by itself doesnt offer a lot of recreation (unless pure relaxation is your goal) but I would definitely recommend it as a spot to park your stuff while you check out some of the local attractions be they natural or unnatural (Vegas)Easy to see how it can sometimes be tough to get a spot here from fall thru spring. Well keep it on our options list for sure.

Hosts were super friendly and helpful. The campground was clean, including the facilities! We were lucky to get a reservation because someone cancelled. We will definitely be back.
