Love this campground for many reasons (convenience to hiking and vegas amenities, nice sites with shade structures, beautiful/spacious views, helpful hosts, safe vibe). What I really didn't enjoy (and is new to me after coming here for a number of years is the nearby gun range. I don't have any issue with gun ranges, but when you make effort to be in a natural environment and for many hours each day the silence of nature is pierced by *gunfire* it is jarring to say the least. I dealt with it ok and it wouldn't keep me from going back, but would keep from a multi-day stay.

Simple, but perfectly nice. Good place to stay if you are bouldering.

Very nicely set up, clean and quiet. Mostly rock climbers (in tents) and a scattering of small rvs. Close to many sights and activities not to mention a short drive to civilization (grocery store, Trader Joes and Costco ). Clean pit toilets, water and some cell service (AT&T, no Verizon).

The sites were clean, well kept, the views were beautiful. The check in and out process was easy and we had a pavilion for some shade, easy access to restrooms and drinking water. It was very windy, which made it a little tough to set up and break down our tent, but there were large rocks left by previous campers which worked well to weigh our gear down. We also hired a rock climbing guide through The Mountain Guides - Red Rock to get a closer look at the canyons and it was well worth it! We had a great time!

Amazing little spot nestled 20 minutes from the Vegas Strip! Check in was super easy and the sight was amazing. As two women camping for the first time we felt safe to be here. Was very clean and quiet.

Great Place. Even though the toilets are vault toilets they were very clean and no smell. Calico Basin is a must!

Make sure to reserve and get your parking pass fro Hosts. They are strict about this procedure and even if you get there after dark.

You can't beat the proximity to Red Rocks at this campground. The camp hosts were nice and the bathrooms were clean. The sandy tent pads were comfortable. But, it doesn't have much else going for it.

The campground is super basic with no privacy (limited desert vegetation and campsites close together). They have pit toilets (half of which are closed due to Covid, with the campground running at full capacity, which is a head-scratcher for me) and potable water taps. The water tastes bad so bring extra for drinking. Sites with a sun shelter are a must. You can use them to hang a tarp to block the wind. Otherwise you are fully exposed to the harsh desert weather.

One of the campers in the RV area was running two very loud generators in the morning (starting at 6 AM on the dot) and in the evening (until 10 PM on the dot) for several days in a row. It basically ruined the experience of camping for me, and annoyed our neighbors as well. The generator guy didn't care at all that he was causing such a disturbance (I politely spoke with him directly about it) and the camp hosts couldn't do anything about it, as the generators were running during "generator hours". If you are staying in a tent and hoping to have a peaceful existence in your camp site, I suggest finding a site as far away from the RV area as possible. Or, get a group together and stay in a group site.

I've camped here twice before and there was less audible gunfire than on previous trips -- there's a shooting range down the road. So, be prepared to hear that, too.

Due to the lack of any buffer (visual, sound, or otherwise) from other campers, I'll never stay in this campground again.

Also, it really needs showers.

The campground is simple with no frills, but it was clean and quiet for our visit in October. The hosts were friendly and quick to check us in. The parking spot was level for our RV, and included a great shade structure over the picnic table. We would stay again if we’re ever in the area.

Wonderful campground. Great facilities, good spacing between sites, and helpful/friendly staff. Recommend adding a RV dump station with potable water hookup to make it even better.
