We stayed off and on in a van at this campground in the month of December in both RV sites and regular sites. We have also tent camped in the walk in previously in 2023. Overall, this is a great experience, but agree with many other reviewers that the rules are confusing, there are often open sites (despite the sign ALWAYS saying it's full) and lack of visibility of camp hosts. When we first arrived for the series of stays, I walked to the office multiple times/days to get the parking pass that "must" be displayed but it was more than 5 days until the hosts were there. After that, we just gave up and didn't worry about checking in. Every time we entered the campground, without fail, the full sign was on, but there were plenty of sites in the walk in and appeared to be several open sites in the other parts (though I suppose cars/RVs could've arrived late/left early). One night was so windy many tents were blown throughout the campground and this was also our experience when we tent camped in the past - tie everything down very securely. Toilets were clean and the area is quiet. Verizon cell coverage was very, very spotty. Overall vibe is very chill.

I loved how in the rv section you feel like you have the place to yourself with only 4 rv sites spread out. It's a beautiful area in the desert surrounded by mountains and the campground was clean and nice. However, I had expected to be able to fill up my drinking water in my rv since the campground says it has drinking water and this was a specific rv area I stayed in, albeit a dry area. However you are not allowed to fill up your tank and it would have been nice to know in advance. We used pots and pans but it was a little walk for it maybe 100- 200 yards where the portapotties also were. I might have chosen a site in the regular camping area instead as there were more spikets spread out and many sites had covers which the rv area didn't. However you are very close to explore both red rock canyon and las vegas from here. I'd definitely come back - but with water in my tank!!

The RV loop is a gravel cul-de-sac. Good mountain view during sunrise and quiet away from the main campground.

Very nice BLM campground. It was clean and nicely spaced out

It could have been better. We were in RV. There was no canopy. No dump station anywheres in the area. They had these water faucets that were not trailer friendly. Take a few tips from Boulder Beach Campground. You could learn a lot!!! No WiFi!!! How do you reserve scenic drive without private WiFi!!! Boulder Beach was far superior!!! WiFi!! At the campground!!

Not allowed to fill water into RVs or Van Campers. Nothing about this mentioned on the website, that does mention that water is available on site. We have no gravity fill option on our class B+ RV, which makes it impossible to get water into our tank that we had planned on refilling on arrival per water available on site. The camp host suggested water fill option at the Chevron station nearby. This is not an option as the water spigot is covered by a licked compartment and the stations service attendant does not have a key or know its location. We managed by the water we had on arrival, but barely.

We stayed in RV #1. Easy check-in with camp hosts. The RV loop has 6 spots and is tucked around a bend from the other sites. There are no hook ups. They do have restrooms.

The Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center is a 5 minute drive from the camp ground. Reservations are needed to get in (through Recreation.gov.). If you arrive between 6:00am-8:00am you don’t need a reservation.

Chat with the volunteers in the center. They are well versed on the various hikes and can recommend one for your level. We hiked Calico Tanks early in the morning. The view of the city is worth it.

I’ve been coming to this campground for about 5 years now, staying primarily in the RV-only section. The facility itself is great. It’s clean, safe, and easily accessible to outdoor activities and nearby groceries and supplies.

Managed to snag a spot here last minute and we were very happy to find a campground so close to Vegas (even though it felt like we were waaay out there!). Got there after dark so didn't really know what we'd wake up to. We were very pleased to wake up to wide canyon views and a trail just a few steps away from our site.

Our little loop was fairly small but we had plenty of space and our neighbors were quiet and friendly. Wish we'd been able to spend more time there - we definitely had lots more to explore!
