Great campsite on Lake Conroe with gorgeous views. Camp hosts (especially Jesse) were great. Bathrooms well maintained -- not luxurious, but clean and functional. Campsite has some decent trails for casual day hiking. Great population of songbirds in late March when we camped there.

Great campsites. Clean and level. Camp hosts were very helpful and courteous. I really enjoyed staying there by the lake. It had beautiful sunsets every night!!!

3 star is a stretch. Our campsite was on the water, which was nice, but there are only a few of those. Fairly decent walking trail. But that's the only highlights. Camp host was very invasive, and not helpfull. No firewood available for sale, no soap or toilet paper in ladies bathroom. Notified the host, and his reply was "it's on order". Overall neutral experience.

Wonderful, experience. The sites were well suited for our RV. One site was not very level but we managed. Difficult to find a spot at times on the weekend because it is so popular. Lee the host is great.

Some pin head parked his horse trailer in my spot. Went riding for hours. Dropped Horse $hit on my site. Should have been arrested for trespassing and dropping biohazard on my site. I know if I dropped black water there I would be banned.

Excellent camp grounds. Hosts were great. Site was tough to level. Unfortunately came when a group of boy scouts were having an event. They walked over our site and even right next to our camper through out our stay. They were loud early in the morning.Other than scouts, we had a great time.

Our kick-off of the 2024 camping season took us to a new-to-us campground, Cagle Recreation Area. It is close to home, located on the northern edge of Lake Conroe, Texas. The campground is about seven miles off of Interstate 45, about half-way between Conroe and Huntsville, Texas. The official address is New Waverly, but for most amenities youll need to venture into Huntsville or Conroe, both about 20 minutes away. The National Forest Service manages the campground and surrounding Sam Houston National Forest. The campground is relatively small, with two compact loops of rv/travel trailer camping sites, with a total of 47 back-in, asphalt-paved, full hookup sites. The sites come in a variety of lengths, with most accommodating larger rigs. Weekends are fairly busy. Throughout the week, especially during school times, youll likely find openings at this campground.Nestled amongst the tall pines of the forest, youll find plenty of shade at most sites. The amenities in the campground include three bath houses, a dual-lane boat ramp and dock, along with overflow parking areas with a few day-use picnic areas. There are no playground areas. However, there are a number of walking trails, along the lake frontage and through the forest around the campground. The trails provide easy access for fishing along the banks of the lake, or for launching kayaks/canoes. By the way, the fishing was excellent just from the bank, with catfish, hybrid striper, drum, and bluegill plentiful while we were there. Our spot, number 32, provided easy access to the lake, just a few steps behind the campsite. Our location offered a great observation point for wonderful sunset views over the lake, too. The campsite picnic tables and fire rings are in good condition. A level designated tent pad is provided at each campsite, too.

By far my favorite camp site. The feeling of seclusion next to the lake with all the pine trees surrounding me cannot be matched anywhere else Ive been.

It’s a great little place to get away from it all and enjoy nay.

Beautiful park , well maintained, I had no problems navigating or getting into my spot with my diesel pusher 44 feet long, I highly recommend this park.

Lovely place--quiet (except for the birds), good web page, excellent park host. Nice little trails. Our site in loop SYME had sewer hookup in addition to water and 50-amp electricity.

Lovely location, great hosts, everything was very clean and tidy. Cell reception sucks unless you have AT&T

Camping was great, but I don’t understand something, each time we have camped there, online it shows the campground to be full but there’s always open spots. We always stay 3-5 days and these spots never fill up. To me that’s taking away from other people that want to camp there. Park has seen some decline in the last few years, not kept up the way it used to be. I think they need new host, in the second loop.

Very peaceful campground, with lots of amenities. Great place for solo camping, but also for a group. Will definitely make it my regular campground.
