There was no one at the gate. We drove directly to our site and started setting up. A camphost came by and welcomed us. Site was easy to back into.

We stayed at Cagle for 2 nights. Fire pit was nice, neighbors were friendly and respectful. No problems with the excess noise after bedtime. Restrooms and showers were clean, but floors were damp. Hosts were nice and helpful. Nice trail right by the campsites, good for a family walk. I would stay here again. Did a short backpacking trip on the Lonestar trail that was a short drive from the camping area.

Great camp sites and hiking trails. All the staff were great. We have stayed at a lot of State and National parks Jesse was the best camp host that weve met he was a big help.

Very Nice, wooded campground right on the lake! Beautiful area !! We were in Site #21 which was good sized .. we had a 28' 5th wheel and F-250 PU that fit fine. All sites have a little space in between, fire ring, picnic table on concrete slab, and Full Hook-ups. Bath/Shower house was Exceptionally CLEAN although an older structure. Hosts were very pleasant and helpful and patrol the CG frequently.

Fire pit was to deep for cooking. Had to build to big fire to get enough heat up to grill

Hidden gem! Beautiful trees, excellent lake access, minimal traffic noise, and the park hosts are attentive and welcoming. Cell signal is usable for work, but can be challenging. Even in high summer, this park is shaded and noticeably cooler than other parks in the area. We make time for a stay at Cagle whenever we are in the area!

Quiet and respectful even though full. Forest was beautiful and pleasantly gentle area. A pleasure to drop out of big city chaos to recharge.

Although the weather wasn't in our favor, the campground and campsites were nice. Everything was clean and neat and the park host was friendly and helpful. I think his name was Randy. Large campsite pads and some very scenic waterfront sites as well. I also love the striped off road side parking areas near some of the campsites for extra vehicle or boat parking. Nice hiking trail, and having a boat ramp right next door was great. Bathrooms could have used some heat, but other than that they seemed clean and well maintained.

We were very impressed with this park. Very quiet and beautiful views. Camp host was great. This is a beautiful surprise not to far from Houston.

Cleanliness of the park was outstanding. The restroom was very clean and stocked with soap etc. My only negative comment was the shower water is extremely hot and no way to regulate it.

We have been camping at Cagle Recreation Area for 3 years. It is well maintained, quiet, has well spaced out sites and friendly park hosts.

Very well kept park - the views were stunning - there are miles of hiking trails all over Sam Houston National Forest - the sunset over Lake Conroe was beautiful we will definitely be back.

We enjoyed our stay at Cagle Recreation Area. The sites were clean and well kept. The host was helpful. The campground was quiet. The trails were well marked. We didn't use the restroom building so we can't comment on that.

Liked the camping site. Was level, and all hook-ups operated correctly. Area was nice and quiet. Cell service was sub par. Do not expect to stream. You will have a lot of dropped calls, too.
