Cagle could be a very nice park. I have always stayed in Sycamore loop. This is my first stay in SWGU loop. I guess the park host in this loop is a permanent residence. I have never seen this done? The Park Host site looks like a junk yard full of clutter. I had a shoe hanging from a tree above my patio. Someone in the site before me had left a frisbee and a razor scooter. I spent my first twenty minutes picking up food trash and cans at the site. Im glad I didnt have to use the restrooms.

This campground was excellent, We really enjoyed our stay. However, I would like to let you know that the information on your reservation website is incorrect. When booking the site, I was informed that only 19 sites in Cagle are full hookup. However, I discovered while there that all the sites are full hookup. This was corroborated with the host in my area. Please correct this information. Though our site was great, I would have chosen another site closer to the lake, if I had known this fact. thank you.

We enjoyed our time at Cagle Recreation Area. The site was peaceful and quiet. The loop trail was enjoyable. The water pressure was the only thing lacking. It was so low that the shower dribbled water. So we ended up using our reserve tank which provided better water pressure.

Pros: Quiet, Clean RestroomsCons: Small campsites, right over one another, no cell reception (tmobile), pesky raccoons (tried to get in our tent all night long even when leaving site super clean overnight), no communication from anyone, the precious tenants overstayed - had to be kicked out, leading to us waiting to set up. Our site was the most private which was enjoyable...but those raccoons.... good grief.

The campground is surrounded by the Sam Houston national forest. Other than the occasional noisy speed boat, it is very peaceful. There were some issues with the hiking trails directly around the campground. Some of the trails were closed due to foot bridge problems. The facilities are fairly well maintained and everything works in the restrooms.

The camp grounds are starting to show wear, there are several trails closed, due to maintenance needs, obvious funding issues. We need to demand better for our national parks. One of our favorite places to stay. Sadly the population expansion is encroaching upon the park. Clear cutting and plopping housing tightly together.

Our 4 slide-out fifth wheel fit just so in site #8. It's nice and roomy around the asphalt driveway, with plenty of space for the grandkids to run around. Site was level, clean, close to a hiking trail, and with peekaboo views of the lake. This was our second trip to Cagle and we enjoyed it as much as we did the first time, in the adjacent site. Close to Huntsville and Conroe, it's convenient to city amenities.

This was our first time to Cagle, and it will now be our go-to campground for sure! The camp host was quick to greet us and let us know they are there for us if we need anything! We were at site 8, and it was roomy and perfect! We drove around the park to scout out where our next spot would be, and we realized that the entire park is amazing. The sites are spread out nicely, and its all tree covered. Its like a state park - but better because its less crowded and quiet! Our site was perfectly level, and we had no problem reaching all the hookups. There isnt a water view from this loop, but the trees and seclusion were perfect. Loved everything about it!

I’ve always stayed on the sycamore loop but time I stayed on the sweetgum loop. I was shocked to find out I needed 40ft of sewer hose.

Sweetgum loop was clean and well maintained, the bathrooms were clean, and the walking paths were fairly level and easy to navigate. The park hosts do an awesome job to keep the area clean and maintained. We'll be coming back in the future.

beautiful spot, hidden in the national forest - close to the OHV trails and tucked away so that you feel lost amongst the trees : )
