Double lake has excellent trail and campsite conditions. The Volunteers also kept a strict quiet policy after 10pm which was refresning!

I stayed in the tent site area with a shared water spicket. The bathrooms are in terrible shape. One was totally closed and the one that was open, the host was struggling to keep it from smelling like a poorly kept nursing home. The pavement on the road was tolerable, but the paved parking spaces were in terrible disrepair. The host was very nice and accommodating and helped me find a spot that was Level for myself contained car camping unit.

Love the tent camping area. Peaceful and quiet but we tend to check in after the weekend peak times. Weather was a bit challenging first day and lake does not look good due to this years drought but you cant control Mother Nature. Park is always clean with easy access.

We had the non electric area because we give the area for the elderly and people with disabilities to have theyre stay enjoyable. And we got the spot which is perfect and its close to the lake. Staying at the double lake campsite make us feel so comfortable especially when the staff are keep on going with their rounds and checking the campers specially Ms Cindy. They are so friendly! I hope to see you guys again !

Double Lake is a hidden little gem deep in the Sam Houston National Forest. I'm 38 years old now and remember camping at Double Lake with my parents when I was around 3! Growing up my dad would tell me wonderful stories of camping in Double Lake as well as Big Creek trail next door. I always enjoy the peace and quite every visit. The hiking is perfect for those just starting out or longer trails for those of the more experienced. I will always hold a special place in my heart when it comes to Double Lake. Thank you for keeping it beautiful to all that work so hard to do so.

I've been coming to this park for all my life (30 years). It looks better than it has in years! The park hosts have really put in a lot of time and hard work to recover from the drought and pine beetle infestation of years past. Its obviously still in need of funding, but the park is really looking loved again.
