It was quiet and peaceful. Cheryl and Eugene were very helpful in helping me get my fire started and informing me of my options when I come back.

Great little park, quiet, clean, and spacious. Also right outside of cold springs with little restaurants, and coffee shops near by.

Everything was pretty wonderful. The trails were nice, the restrooms were clean, our camp hosts were very friendly and informative. One of the womens showers had quit working and they were already in the works of having it fixed. The lake was such a beautiful site.

We had a great trip to Double Lakes and really enjoyed our visit. The only negative for this trip was the poor cell service and having to search for and area where our phones would work.

This park is perfect. Spacious and remote. I loved my time here.

I stayed on site #40 and found it roomy and private. Site #39 is too small for a tent, but is great for an RV that just wants a driveway. The hosts/park attendants(?) provided wood, but it was too green to burn. Thankfully there were enough pine cones around to cook my dinner and it wasn't too chilly the next morning without a fire. I saw a place on the way in that sold wood and will stop there next time. The Lake Trail is nice and has several look-outs/piers. The distance between the trail and the surrounding campsites varies. At times it seems like you are walking through someone's site. The grounds are nicely wooded and provide a fair bit of privacy between sites. Site #40 has a 'tent pad', but it is pretty compacted. No way to drive a steak down and you would probably damage your tent moving around on it (even with a tar). There is a comfy and level grassy spot that could fit two tents.

We love coming here to relax and unwind from the hussle and bussle of Houston. Campsites are spaced out to where you have your own private slice of heaven under the tall pine trees. Sites are easy to back into, clean facilities.

I'd like to start with my experence on the Recreation.gov website. It is not really user friendly. Like, what is the difference between Standard Electric and RV Electric? I called the phone number for someone at the Campground and left a message. Craig called me back and told me what I needed to know to make an accurate reservation. Once there, we enjoyed ourselves. We don't require a lot of activities or entertainment, so quiet was perfect for us. There is a nice walk around the lake, fishing, and hiking/biking trails. I was surprised at the lack of cleared space around each campsite. We were scoping it our for a family campout later in the year. Our family of 12 needs space for 2 RV's and 3 tents and then space to set up corn hole or other outdoor games . The double campsites were intriging but there were not enough flat places for 3 tents and there was not enough space for playing games. I took pictures of all the campsite that were full hookup, but I can't see how to upload them. I'll keep trying.

This place is great for so many reasons. You can access the lone star trail, there are campsites on the water, and paddle out into the small lake. I didn't even bring a bike with me this last time, but there are lots of bike trails too. I took a friend there this past weekend for her first time camping ever, it was lovely and she had so much fun. I'm bringing my husband back with me in December now that I know more about the park and which sites are the best. Only an hour from where we live and it was like being in another state entirely! Beautiful tall trees and cool, dry weather.

One of our favorite camping areas and we've been to many, many camps.

The campground is beautiful with plenty of trees. Th bathrooms and showers in the electric and water sites really needs improvements.

We typically visit mid week when we want a quiet relaxing break, it is a very quiet and peaceful park. The park and facilities are clean and the staff and park hosts helpful. On our last visit, we woke on the first morning to a flat tire on our travel trailer, as soon as I started to change the wheel the park host came over with all manner of tools and assisted me in the process. Service above and beyond, we were very grateful.
