Super rainy but tents didnt leak and water drained well once it stopped. Bathrooms in great shape. Hosts around maintaining area. Pleasant hiking.

Double Lakes is a wonderful place to camp. Trails and lake views are very nice. Private spots and lots of quiet.

We stay at this park several times of the year and we really enjoy our stay each time. The only downside is the poor cell reception which is great for disconnecting from the digital world,

Double Lake is a gem within a reasonable drive of Houston. the lake is nice with a foot trail around it and the other mountain bike trails are well maintained and marked. I just hope this secret can stay as it is for many generations to come.

On our recent trip, no one was in the check-in station, and if we had not visited the area previously we would have been lost. The roads are narrow and need to be aware of some tight spaces. Our site was great, the only thing missing was waste hookup. If you need this not all sites have this. However, you can pull into any available site to use as a dump station when departing. Never saw a park host until our 3rd day. Beautiful trails, and lakes and wildlife is abundant.

Nice quiet little GemNot all camping spots have sewer so be careful. They also do not have a dump site so you have to pay as you leave at at the Loves Truck Stop.

This is my kid's favorite camping site. Nice and quaint, love the walk around the lake. There's a place to swim, fish, lots of hikinf trails and biking trails. This weekend was a little cold, cloudy and windy, but we still had a great time. It's also so close to Houston!

Great for young toddlers. Nice 1-1 1/4 paved loop for biking and walking around the lake. Very quiet campground with attentive staff. Clean bathrooms.

The people managing the camp ground were firewood nazis because we didnt buy the wood they provided. Instead we scavenged our own, and they kept driving by in their cart and making comments. Literally every fifteen minutes. People go to the forest for peace and solitude, and these people made it far from enjoyable. We decided to leave a day early, didnt feel welcomed.
