Park was extremely clean. The Camp host stopped by and discussed if we had any needs. The camp sites were secluded by trees.

The campground is beautiful and very spread out. Camp sites are further apart and more private than in most other national campgrounds or state parks that we have been to. It was fun watching otters swim in the pond.

We stayed mid-week so campground was very quiet. A few things felt like they could use some TLC but overall we enjoyed our stay. We were unable to see many pictures so did not know what to expect. We did not use the restrooms or showers so can't comment on those buildings.

Always a wonderful escape from day to day life. Peaceful and secluded yet close enough for a day trip. great staff, both friendly and helpful. good trails, close to the lone star hiking trail and a lake for canoes or kayaks. very dog friendly.

The park isn't as busy in the winter time but they had a couple of very large groups there that left early due to rain. One host said around 180 tent groups with lots of children. Even after the group left I was so impressed with how clean the restrooms were. Of course the facilities are old, but they are very well maintained with the hostess group in place.

I absolutely love this park! The only issue is some of the sites are so sloped it is nearly impossible to get your RV level.

This park was wonderful! It was quiet and has lots of trees. The hosts in our loop were the best! My husband had an e-bike accident that landed us in the ER. The hosts checked on us and even gave us their personal cell #s in case we needed anything. The lake was low but it has a paved walking trail that is very nice. We will definitely be back. I think this was our favorite COE park thus far.

Had a reservation, but there appears to be a lot of first come, first served sites. Cash only, honor system. We had full hook up on a pull through site.. bath house is clean and well maintained as is the rest of the campground. Fishing, Bike, and hiking trails run throughout the campgroung and National forest. This is our second stay. Will definitely stay again when we come this way.

Its is a nice and quite camping area, but we did get lucky and not have anyone around for Labor Day weekend. Fishing was just ok, but the water is low like everywhere else right now. Nice walks to the lake or around the lake, didnt do the bike trails at all. We will definitely be going back

Park looked Unmaintained. Campsites were trashy, bathrooms were out of order or disgusting. There are leeches in the lake that is almost dry. Really disappointed as it seems like it was went down hill over the last few years.

Double Lakes is our favorite campground. We love the pull-thru sites with full hookups. Taking walks is our way of enjoying the beauty of nature in the park. The park host Craig is so helpful and friendly.

Howdy,
We're new to rv'ing but not to camping. The majority of our camping has been in this Sam Houston national forest and we love it.
Double lake is a real treat because it's the best of both worlds.

Great campground. Slight leveling needed. Quiet and peaceful area. Town of Cleveland is about 18 miles away. Used the Walgreens for getting our mail through Fedx. Town has most needed stores and eateries if needed. The town of Coldspring has stores also for needed items and is closer.
Area has a well maintained beach. We would stay again. Cell coverage isn't the best at 1-2 bars on AT&T and poor OTA TV.
14 day max stay. Part of the Sam Houston National Forest.

The entrance and interior roads were all asphalt and provided easy access to the campground. Site 36 is a pull-through, but even the back-ins were very generous in size and left plenty of room between sites. Each site has a nice patio with an extra long picnic table, lantern pole, and fire pit. Our site had 50 amp Electricity, Water, and Sewer hook-ups - all utilities were very conveniently located and in good working order. Not all sites have full hook-ups, but there is also a dump station available. There were several sites that I would call buddy sites meaning they were very intentionally side by side for friends or families to share space. The lake is small, but offers nice kayaking, fishing, and has both a swim beach and lakeside trail. The trail is in need of some maintenance as the asphalt has deteriorated and has several places where felled trees have uprooted the trail causing it to be unusable. There were other trails for hiking and biking that were forested earth pathways that were lovely. All trails had wildlife throughout. Due to CoVid, all group facilities are closed temporarily and we did not use the restrooms which were open, so I can not speak to those facilities. This campground is in the forest - we did not even try to use our Dish Satellite. Verizon and AT&T - two bars. Coldspring, only a few miles from the campground, is a real Mayberry kind of town. Saturday we attended the farmers market on the square on all sides of the county courthouse and listened to the Bluegrass played from one of the quaint antique stores just across the street. We had lunch on the square and poked around the great little shops.

Loved this campground and cant wait to go back! The staff were all so helpful and friendly, and the trails were beautiful! Verizon gets terrible service there but we were there to camp so I didnt really care much about that. And the best part was that even though most of the sites were filled the campground didnt feel overcrowded. We will definitely be going back, and hopefully very soon!

We loved Double Lake. The only reason I did not rate higher was because our spot 36 was very unlevel. We did not have enough leveling blocks and had to buy lumber and nail them together to get us leveled. Otherwise, we loved the camp.
