Ratliff Lake Recreation Area is a very beautiful location. My only complaint about my visit was the conducted controlled burn, that took place while my husband and I were camping there for 12 nights. We were forced to stay indoors for most days and evenings because of the smoke. The trails were closed and it did hinder our overall experience at the park.

Clean campground and level lots. Not every site has water.

Had a great time. Grounds very clean.
Only complaint is restrooms. They were cleaned in afternoon so during the mornings there is no toilet paper & full of trash from night before. This is very inconvenient because first thing everyone does when the wake up is go there. Would be nice if cleaned during early morning instead of after lunch.

Ratcliff had very well kept facilities. The trails were easy to access and we walked them daily. We will definitely return if In the area again.

Sites are large with plenty of room to relax. Area is quiet & a great place for star gazing.Walking trails were a pleasure to use.

Major Issues

The inconvenience was that there is no water hook up next to each site , you have to have a longest hose ever to be able to reach the water hookup , which is also you share with another site .
And there is no cell service at all.( maybe itโ€™s a good thing )

Great campsite. Well run, clean bathrooms (daily), camping spots are spaced out nicely with plenty of room between sites. Beautiful large mature pine trees offer plenty of shade. Hiking and fishing is easily accessed and fun for kids. The only real downside is the occasional truck road noise but over time it's not that noticeable. I am spoiled having lived and camped in Utah for many years but for Texas camping, this is one of the best.
