The Badin Lake campgrounds are very well maintained. The bathrooms were very clean. Going in the fall after school starts again is great and it was relatively quiet. There is lots to do in the area. The only reason it got 4 stars was that I could not find any camp wood anywhere. Usually there are people selling it or the park has stacked up dead wood they have collected around the grounds. Only other issue is there are very few sites that actually have a view of the water. Book EARLY or you will never get one of them.

Drainage on camping pads was good. Easy access to trails from the campground, you can fish from the bank or put in kayak/canoe relatively easy on the lower loop. Bath houses had some clogged drain issues. Overall you can hit the gun range, fish, hike, off-road and camp all within 10 minute drive of your tent.

The camp grounds were at max capacity and it was still a very tranquil and relaxing weekend!

What a great campground. It rained the whole time but I still had a blast. The campsite was huge, rain runoff around the tent pad was perfect. The grill was good and camp fire ring was adequate.

Pros: The sites and views are fantastic. Great hiking trails within a 30min driving distance.

Cons: The bathrooms and showers are terrible and too few. The trash cans are also too small and too few. And they don’t sell firewood on site as other campgrounds do so you need to plan accordingly and bring lots of wood with you. The tent area was so hard we couldn’t hammer in our tent stakes...we tried and the metal started to bend.

Campsite was very clean. Around the lake at site 22 could be cleaned up.
