This was my second time staying at Davidson River Campground. It is a beautiful area, with lots of trails both within and directly from the campground. Well maintained roads, clean bathrooms and a very friendly staff.

Sites are clean and have ample space between others for adequate privacy. Staff is super friendly and eager to share local knowledge. We highly recommend.

Had a great time! Our area has great mix of shade and sunlight, river access, and close to bathroom and water. Tent platform is little low so not great if rains if tent camping as it floods.

We love coming to Davidson every summer. Only one request; the poison ivy on the connector paths from sites to main trail is a challenge to navigate.

A wonderful campground for families. Hiking, biking, swimming, tubing the river, fishing, and all around camping fun! Bathrooms are old but kept clean along with the campsites. Weve been twice and plan many more trips in the future!

Friendly staff, gorgeous well kept campground, heated bathroom with a hot shower, frozen edges of the river, what else could one ever ask for from a campsite? I do not usually repeat locations. This one I almost certainly will.

This campsite never disappoints. We went trails riding at the Pisgah Stables (about a 5mins) down the road. The site is only about 20 mins from the Blue Ridge parkway where we hiked on some beautiful trails. On the way to the parkway you will pass by some amazing waterfalls. Dont forget to walk the trails near the river right at the site-Gorgeous.

Great campground, lots of childhood memories and now I get to make more with my own children. Sites are spaced out enough that you dont feel like you are on top of anyone. I loved having sites along the hiking path, gives direct access to the river and nice walks. Bathrooms were always clean and even though the shower is one per restroom, its great to have so much space. Love this place, cant wait to come back again.

We stayed one night at Davidson River campground and we arrived after dark. We were met by the very friendly camp host who made sure we had everything we needed. We reserved a site a few days ahead since it was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. We were very pleased with the level site, fire ring and picnic table, and proximity to trails, a clean bathroom and potable water. Walked our dogs on the nature trail by the creek in the morning. Just a beautiful area! We utilized the dump station and water the next day before pulling out. We plan to go back for a longer stay soon! 10/10 would recommend.

Pros: walking distance from several trails including the Art Loeb, North Slope, Black Mountain, Sycamore, Thrifty Cove Trail and others. All of these trails connect with other trails, you can hike for miles and miles. If youre not able to hike long distances or steep grades you can walk along the Davidson River through the campground and all the way into Brevard, all level walking. Across the street is the Pisgah Forest Ranger Station. The Looking Glass Rock trail is about 4 miles away on the road to the Fish Hatchery. From the fish hatchery you can hike to Johns Rock with a beautiful view of Looking Glass Rock. Less than a mile from there is Looking Glass Falls, up rt 276 is Sliding Rock. Further up is the historic Cradle Of Forestry followed by Pink Beds trails/picnic area. On the other side of 280 is the DuPont State Forest with several beautiful Waterfalls and very easy hikes, mostly on dirt roads. You could spend a week at Davidson River Campground and not have time to see all of the trails and waterfalls within just a 10 mile drive in any direction. It truly is at the center of it all. The campsite itself is nice, most of the individual sites are relatively spread out and private. Good showers and facilities. Each pod has a camp host to help with anything you need. There is a Bi-Lo, Wal-Mart and Lowes about a mile away if you forget anything. Cons: My primary distress with the campsite is that there is an exercise trail that runs through it and probably 100 people a day come through walking dogs, riding bikes and often talking loudly. It kills the whole wilderness experience unlike campgrounds that arent open to the public. Im there to hike so Im generally not at the campground other than late afternoon, so I try not to let the locals bring me down.
