Enjoyed our stay at the campground. The river is beautiful and stocked with trout on Fridays these days. My grandson and I had a lot of fun fishing and catching.

The campground was very nice, and in a great location in proximity to biking trails. The double site we had easily accommodated 7 adults with enough parking space for 4 vehicles.

My family and I have been going camping in Pisgah National Forest for the past 17 years. My daughters count the days until our trip each year. They love going biking, slide rock, hiking. This year I was disappointed with the maintenance on the grounds. I found out that they are not cutting the grass like before or cleaning. I saw several rats running around especially by the dumpsters, which I have never seen before. It’s very sad that such a beautiful place is not being cared for.

Facilities were good, but reservation system needs to be updated to allow onsite staff to modify reservations. We booked a week at Davidson River, but needed to reserve 3 separate sites. Upon arrival there were plenty of sites available, however we needed to change sites while many sites sat open for the entirety of our stay. (Pay your taxes so recreation.gov can afford more investment!)

I have camped here for the past 20 years. This place was always the go to spot for its spectacular views, warm showers and friendly hosts. I last camped here before they completely butchered the first three loops by some sort of logging. I understand the root fungus control, but most sites are left with huge wood piles and trenches left behind by large equipment. It is downright sad as you feel like you are camping in a deforestation area instead of nestled in the hemlocks. The campground host never came by from Friday until my Sunday departure nor did I even see one. Forget about bathroom cleanliness and toilet paper resupply -BYOTP. Lastly I gave the 2 star only because it is very close to everything you need and you still have heated bathrooms. Please get this campground back on track, or open the loops that arent under contruction.

Great location for hiking + mountain biking. Close to awesome local spots. Clean sites and bathrooms.

We love camping at Davidson River Campground! We have made it a family tradition to spend time there each summer. Our kids love to ride their bikes and have access to the water. It is a great place for families! We also appreciate the staff. Everyone has been exceptionally friendly.
