We really enjoyed our stay at Davidson River Campground. Quiet and clean. Good hiking trails! We will be back of course!

Convenient and well cared for campground that is ideally located within the national forest and close to town. Clean facilities and very welcoming team at the front gate.

The people who work in the campground are kind and helpful. Always love staying here.

Only bad thing about the campground is bad cell phone service, no WiFi and bad TV antenna stations. Everything else is excellent. One of my favorites. If not for the previous comments about tech stuff, would think I was in heaven!

Great place to stay. If you don't want a camp host as a neighbor don't get a site near a bathroom house.

Always love camping here. Enjoyed the spring flowers, all the birds, plenty of places to hike and fish.

Close to everything. Trails are nice and sites are a good size & somewhat private. We love being so close to the river, hearing the water is very relaxing.. No cell service, but that didn't bother us. Staff friendly & knowledgeable, looking forward to returning in the spring.

We enjoyed a quiet night and great location. The area is pretty shady, D71 had some spotty success with Starlink internet. The site behind us also used a Starlink. Ranger was very nice. Good shower pressure and heat.

The bathrooms and showers were terrible. They were cleaned as well as they could be got their age, but in Dogwood loop, one ladies toilet was out of commission and water backed up from the shower drain. The other bathhouse in Dogwood had to be completely locked for two days due to back up issues. I know you can only do so much with limited funding, but these are basic needs.

I had a fantastic five night stay at Davidson river. The campground was clean, orderly, and safe. The hosts did an excellent job patrolling during an ice storm watching for down trees and limbs. I will be staying here again.

Rained the whole time I was there, so curtailed my hiking. Love this campground,

We have been coming to Davidson River Campground annually for 27 years. The bathrooms are very clean now, which is very nice. However, the maintenance of the grounds is poor. The lawn service does just the edge of the road. There are dead trees down, which draws small animals and snakes. We watched rats repeatedly trying to get into our garbage that we emptied daily. They have no fear of people, coming out of the weeds into the open around our campsite.

I understand the concept of letting trees grow up to replace old ones, but not at the expenses of safety. There is an abundance of poison ivy if you get off the site itself. When the season ends, there should be some serious clearing out around the sites in Appletree, Dogwood, and Sycamore loops.

This campground is exceptionally well run, spacious, beautiful especially in Spring. The Forest Service needs to spend a little more money on the grounds, tree clearing and updates on the restrooms.

I have been camping at Davidson River campground for over 28 years and was so disappointed on this trip. First of all Sycamore, Appletree and Dogwood loops now look like a ghost forest after the removal of many trees due to a disease. Secondly, we were never greeted by anyone from the campground. Thirdly only one bathroom on the loop was open and had not been cleaned in days. Thirdly, our fire pit had not been cleaned out and there was trash throughout the campgrounds. Fourthly, a campground staff was staying in the site next to ours, he would leave inis small RV in the morning and not return until that evening. He left his campsite messy. We came home and immediately cancelled our reservations for May. I understand the campground is under new management. The old management were so nice and available, the campground clean until now.

First thing that surprised us was.....there are no water hookups for our camper.
Might be on the web-site but not something we EVER encountered before at any other facility.
There are no easy place to fill up your tank prior to arriving.
Note: this is not a seasonal thing...there are no hose bibs except at Host Campsite Locations.

The 3 of 5 loops that were open in early March looked like a Hurricane came through. Down trees and piles of brush.
Maybe it disappears when the foliage comes out but it's not a attractive look.

As a location close to town and activities....that's a 10.
Convenient 5 mile bike path from campground to Downtown.
Really close to waterfalls, hiking and other outdoor activities.

This was our first stay at a North Carolina State Park.....not very impressed.
