This was first experience camping. My best friend and I camped at Davidson River Campground for my birthday on Halloween. We had a wonderful experience. Registering on recreation.gov was simple. The Camp Host was fantastic. I will definitely camp again.

The location is great! I love the campsites along the river because of the easy access to the water; however, after 2 separate stays here I do have some complaints.Firewood is double what it cost us at other campgrounds. The campsite had lots of little pieces of trash everywhere- plastic, caps from bottles, etc. Lastly, the bathrooms are nasty. Yes, the toilets are cleaned, but because they spray them out, the floor is constantly wet, which means after a few hours the floor is covered in mud. There is 1 sink per bathroom, which is annoying when there are people trying to get ready for their day, or brush their teeth, while others need to wash their hands. I know bugs are inevitable while camping, but I have never seen soooo many bugs in one bathroom. Campground def needs some improvements.

Beautiful little campground, very quiet and laid back, nestled in the beautiful pisgah forest.

The campground is great, however the fact that you can't drive in and get a site is silly. You have to drive out of the park to get cell service, use the clunky and very poorly designed recreation.gov booking system on your mobile device (took me over 40 minutes to book 1 night) then drive back to the campground to check in. I don't know why you can't just do it like Cades Cove. Walked in, selected a site, paid the front desk and was on my way.

We stayed in the back of the camp by the river and it was a perfect spot. However, people on the camps past us were not abiding by quiet hours and cars were coming and going all night. It would be nice if this could be policed for a more peaceful experience. Camp grounds are great and toilets are clean.

The campground is quiet and well cared for. LOTS to see and do close by. Stores close by (Walmart, Lowe's, restaurants, etc) yet the campground still feels away from the city. Will definitely return!
