This is one of our favorite campgrounds. Most sites are good sized and not right on top of others. Several are very private also which we sure appreciate. Roads are in good shape and the fact that they are remodeling every restroom facility is only going to make this park better. This particular site is very secluded and surrounded by trees. So much so that when the leaves are on the trees you cant see another site.

Very pleasant experience this trip. No dogs barking in the night. No yahoos whooping it up 'til all hours. Nice quiet visit to the forest with the birds ( lovely dawn chorus) and the spring peepers. On the other hand, I'm concerned about the apparent under staffing. There were very few Campground Hosts in the loops. The Gatehouse had only one attendant at a time which caused small backups of people trying to register and others trying to return from excursions. It needs at least 2 people in the gate house to handle things efficiently and some others in the campground as standby if need be. Additionally, the gate house is now empty from 8 pm to 8 am which is trouble just waiting to happen. Anyone could just drive in and set up overnight in an empty if they so desired. If there was any sort of conflict or medical emergency, there would be no one there to help with calling emergency services as phone coverage within the forest is spotty. The gate house should be attended at least from 7 am to 11 pm with patrols after quiet time to be certain everyone has properly settled.

I wasn't sure how to rate the overall experience. The people at the campground were wonderful. The campground still well taken care off. The problem was my tent that I had not used in a few years. Arrived on Monday and it rained Tuesday night...as hard in the tent as outside! Everything (Cot, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, clothes etc.) was totally soaked so I had to pack up Wednesday and come home to dry everything out. As I was checking out, the delightful woman in the gate house said she would look into getting me a refund for my unused time. I had it before I even made it home! Service above and beyond. Thank you. The only request I might make is that all sites eventually get bear boxes. A few of the sites here do have them and North Mills has them. It just makes daily activities a bit easier not having cooler and food and trash in the vehicle all the time. Thanks again.
