This was our second time staying at Davidson River Campground, the first time tent camping, this time in a travel trailer. There are so many walking and biking trails accessible from the campground that we never used our car this trip. The staff is very nice and there are bath houses within a short walking distance from each spot we've stayed. I do wish they had more spots with electric & water hookups, but nothing we can't work around!

Davidson river is a beautiful campground right on the Davidson River. There is great hiking right from the campground or within a short drive. The facilities were kept clean, and it was nice to have a hot shower. The location near Brevard makes it ideal. Walmart is 5 minutes away, but you feel like you're out in nature away from everything. We really enjoy visiting The Hub (bike repair, gear shop, pizza, beer, and usually a coffee truck), and it's also less than 5 minutes from the campground. It's just right around the corner. Pisgah National Forest is always a treat to visit.

This trip was a delight. Ridiculously good weather for the last weekend in October and the foliage was still in good form!Cheerful, helpful people in the gatehouse. Facilities clean and all well maintained. Only fly in the ointment, campers arriving late my last night who left their dog out to bark at length at midnight and again at 1 am. That puts one on edge, waiting for the next occurrence.Other than that, all campers and animals were well behaved. Had a fine 4 days.

Great place. Nice area with access to nearby waterfalls, hiking, and local towns. Hosts and staff are excellent and friendly :) Our only detraction on rating would be its as expensive for non-amenity sites as amenity sites. $40 for a tent spot was too much. Maybe due to proximity to waterfalls, etc? The sites are good, facilites are well maintained, feels safe and comfortable. And the nearby hikes and trails by the creek are awesome. *Starlink access was best on site A35 for north facing satelite coverage. during Sept.

Great place to take the family for a camping week or weekend. Brevard is just down the road, wonderful small downtown street shopping. With some great restaurants, if you desire to eat out. Not to far from Hendersonville or Asheville for day trips. But what we like most is the river, the woods for hiking, and the mountain biking. The mountain biking scene in Pisgah Forest has become epic as this area has gained notoriety. The campground is big enough for small kids to enjoy bike riding around the campground, with a few bike paths that are easy for them. We rode one path, not single track of gravel rode, that our 3 yr. grandson managed to ride with his 16" bike with training wheels. You can never go wrong with outdoor activities during the day and grilling dinner and building a campfire at night.

Safe. Quiet. Fun. Beautiful.

Not optimized for vehicle mounted tent systems. Must check in using an app when there is no signal. The spaces are too congested. Not my idea of real camping. My idea of camping is to have a area large enough to pull up and open up my rig and set up camp. Have the next site far enough away I cant hear them talking. Considering these vehicle awning systems and side mounted tents are very common I am surprised these camps sites do not accommodate for this.

Beautiful, spacious campsites; nice amenities; removed but still near Brevard; and very helpful staff and volunteers! FYI, cell service is very minimal in that part of Pisgah (Verizon).

Three stars because the smoke from campfires in July was toxically dense. I know it generates revenue and it is a tradition but campsites here are pretty close together, the area is heavily wooded and in the evening the air is cool and calm. Smoke just rises a few feet and then spreads out on the ground. It's not like people are cooking on it or keeping warm in July.

Our bath house had the mens shower out, looked like it had been out for months and for the 10 days we were there no efforts were made to repair it.

The river is scenic but heavily used so the banks are trampled, someone is fishing every 100 feet, and people are bathing and tubing.

There are excellent hiking and biking trails and even when the campground is full it doesn't take long to get away from the crowd. You might pass or be passed a few times or see a biker or two all day on the trails that don't go to a popular waterfall or bald rock like looking glass. On popular trails you'll be in a crowd.

The sites near the river look attractive and if you are coming with a group of kids that want to play in the river they are ideal. On the other hand if you don't want a nearly theme park size crowd behind your campsite all day you might want to get one of the sites away from the river near the front of the park.

The camp hosts are friendly and helpful.

When camping in feb you can only draw water into your tanks from 2 spigots. Both are on the loop closest to the entrance. None of the other spigots have threads for a hose, even at the dump station.

People that ran it are rude.
