The women working the kiosk on entry were good people and seemed well adjusted. I arrived and made the decision to place my things at our site before leaving for about 20 minutes to go to WalMart. My toddler son had urinated in his sleeping bag the night before and in the absence of laundry facilities I we went to the store to buy a new one. It was 85 degrees and sunny outside so I made the decision to leave our pet dog in her crate while we made this short trip. I had been gone about 13 minutes before I received a call from a man (I think his name was Brian but I'm unsure). He didn't state his title but apparently he was the campsite manager. I've never been spoken to by my mother, grandmother, aunts, romantic partners, or any other female in my life in this manner but this guy proceeded to nag me and make all sorts of assertations as to my status as a dog parent. I found it nearly laughable but I maintained frame and thanked him for his input.
His argument was I should have kept my dog in a locked car in 85 degree sunny weather versus her crate (which she prefers to be in anyway) while at WalMart. Then he said there was lightning in the area (there was not). If there was lightning and if you understood how lighting worked, would it really attack a 24" tall crate in an area surrounded by trees? Then he said there were bears in the area. I wonder if he knows bears can enter a flimsy camper at will?
Then when we went to the creek and returned, with our dog, the campsite host was in his golf car in our spot speaking to my neighbor who also got snitched on for his dog being in a crate. The host was equally absurd and started making up rules to suit his own ethics. I've never had this experience, I won't be back.
