Campsite #58: Tent camped with electric, May 6, 2024. Nice quiet campsite, close (75') to restroom with showers. No cell service for either Verizon or Xfinity. Camp host had ice ($5 / 7lbs) and firewood ($10/bundle) for sale. Very short drive to Brevard (5 miles) for groceries, restaurants or services.

I love Davidson! I wish they had sewer hookup sites and this is literally my only suggestion for improvement.

Liked the layout of the campground; great walking trail; convenient to several tourist sights. Bathhouse was clean and plenty of them.

The river was low as this time of year was preceded by a drought. The staff totally made up for the poor fishing by recommending different activities that were fun and not on our list of places to explore.

Not enough restrooms were open, there was continuously a line. The Women's room ran out of toilet paper. Was surprised there was no one at the check-in building. I was pretty sure I selected a site with water and electric, the site had only electric. Not having a fresh water source at the dump station was a complete inconvenience.

The site was level and on a corner (#58), nice location to showers/rest rooms....nice to find the ranger station right down the road....was sad to see all the destruction but a lot had been done already to clear up the debris. We will definitely make time to come back.

Big campsites allow some privacy. Quiet campground with a nice walking trail.
Accessing the dump station to leave took over an hour. There were two arriving campers filling their holding tanks at 10:30 am and they blocked traffic to and from the dump area.

The sites have no water hookups and if you go in the winter there is no potable water available in the entire campground so come prepared.

Great location for a campground! Super close to several great cycling and hiking trails, and a short drive to some incredible waterfalls! Looking Glass Falls was a place we could have just sat and awed for hours. This is a place to go if you are looking to relax and disconect (seriously, Verizon gets no signal out there). The campground was nice, the employee that we interacted with seemed super friendly, and for the most part the sites had plenty of space. Site 58 was really close to a well heated bathhouse but it lacked privacy, as the site is situated on a corner spur and lacks surrounding trees. We did get aggressively heckled by a neighbor for wearing masks (COVID-19 is still a thing) on our last night there, which really killed the vibe of that place for us (we just wanted to protect other campers). For the rest of the day and into the night we just kept to ourselves. This might just be a one time event, but beware that the politics of masks and COVID-19 prevention is still alive and well in this area. Many folks did wear masks and were extremely respectful.Overall, great location and good place to disconect.

We had a great time staying at the campground June 15-16, 2020. The campground was clean and neat, even though there was some tree removal going on in part of the campground. Those working the gate were friendly and helpful with questions we had. The bathrooms were clean, as was the campsite. The only area I saw for improvement was the water in the shower was far too hot to use for the first minute or so, then cooled down fairly quickly to lukewarm. There was still plenty of time to shower in the warm water, but one might get scalded when it first comes out. We DO plan on staying again!

We love Davidson River. It had been years since we were there last but so last October was a must! When we went before many many years ago there were no electric sites and found that new areas were added with electric! We were thrilled to get an electric site and hope they add more in the future. I was hoping to come up there come October for my 70th birthday this year in October again but sadly to say there were no electric sites available..So was a bit disappointed but we will return again sometime for sure!.. We loved that we got to see a Real White Squirrel which was very friendly! And we loved that we found a new Good Pizza Place with yummy pizza from Jets Pizza..One of the volunteers suggested to try it and we loved it! Also liked that we could ride our scooters all over on the nicely paved roads... All in all, we will return as soon as we are able to. Happy Camping!
