The absolute best family campground in the southeast. The location is amazing with many opportunities for day trips or just tubing, biking and hiking around the facilities. The sites are far cooler than the surrounding region. We kick off our summer at Davidson each year.

stayed at river bend loop. Great to walk to swimming hole, tube down the river. Went fishing everyday. Camp host very nice. Peaceful and shaded.

I was very impressed with the help I got from the people in the gate house, especially the 2 young women and man named Brian(?) who appeared to be handling reservations at a central location. I arrived without a reservation but stopped here first to gather current local information. One of the women went online too check for vacancies and just happened to notice that there had just been a cancellation for the period I wanted! They directed me to the local wifi at the ranger station. I made the reservations but failed to get one of the days and the women and Brian caught it the next day, even called me on the phone to notify me of the gap and again helped me get squared away. I have stayed here quite a few times over the years and I must give praise to this crew.
Overall, this is one of my favorite places to stay. The crew does an excellent job maintaining the grounds and facilities. Thank you.

Camp host and manager failed to patrol grounds after 10pm to make sure campers were in compliance with “quiet time” rule. Campers next to me were yelling and fighting, kids screaming, until 12am. When I left to get host I ran into a women leaving sight with to kids. I asked her if they could be quiet and stop their kids from yelling, that we were trying to sleep. I went to get host and came back to site to find two men yelling in my camper van at my wife and 10yr old daughter. I had to shout them down and back them away from van, ultimately leaving campground because we felt unsafe staying next to ignorant unpredictable people. All of this could have been prevented if the camp host and manager had done their job and checked sites at 10pm and monitored campers. This was absolutely the worst camping experience I’ve ever had and expected much more from the campground. Bottom line is you’ll have to assess your neighbors and let host know ahead of time if you feel it’s going to be a problem, you can’t count on them to be proactive.
