Great site, clean bathrooms (although one of the two toilets wasn't working), quiet, pretty!

Beautiful campground and Ive stayed here many time. Needs a bit more care at this point. One of the bath houses has been closed for several years and the next closest was not maintained well.

Really nice campsite. Well kept. Our site was right by the river. Loved the sound of the water at night. The exercise trail also runs parallel to the river so we had a constant lack of privacy. Since it was our first time there, we did not know this trail was there. Our next trip will be at a different site away from this path. Most evenings were very peaceful. On our last night, there was a party that was loud into the wee hours of the morning. The quiet time was not enforced. We received little sleep and we had a long drive home the next day. Most people are not that ignorant and we would not hesitate to come back to this campground again. We liked the proximity to the sights and trails in the area.

Campground was very clean and had nice facilities. The surroundings are beautiful and theres a great trail along the river accessible from certain camp sites and loops. The area is huge so theres a lot of other campers and there were a lot of groups with kids so it isnt the most quiet if thats what youre looking for. Im the sites are also not the most private so keep that in mind when booking. But overall its a great, well maintained place with a nice and helpful staff.

Pleasant enough campground, good sites, but quite close to a fairly busy road, and quite expensive. I guess that comes from its proximity to lots of activities and lots of people.

We had 4 different spots four nights and each one had pleasant surroundings close to bathroom/showers. The people at the gate were so helpful. Can't wait to go back.

Really nice sites, well laid out with plenty of room. The river is really nice with a path running along side. Easy access to water and clean bathrooms. Very convenient to Brevard and Blue a ridge Parkway.

My stay was last weekend in March 2022. Overall it was a very good experience. We stayed in a tent and the coldest it got down to 16 degrees on our second night. The site itself was clean and nice. Bathrooms was heated. The host was friendly, knowledgable and answered all of my questions. The locations to stores, restaurants and town was less than a couple minutes which was handy. The national forest is beautiful and has lots to do. My only fair comment would be the restrooms. As it was the off season only one restroom was open on the loop. And only had 1 sink, 1 toilet, 1 urinal,1 shower. This created a back up on my first morning at least 6 people were in line for the amenities. And due to no fault of the host, inconsiderate campers who cant or wont clean up after themselves left the restroom in a less than desirable state. If using an RV then this wont be an issue. I can see during the peak time the restrooms needing constant cleaning. I would stay again but mostly likely again during off peak times.

For an off season site, the Applewood was more than good enough. The camp host went out of his way for me

This is a beautiful well maintained campground! The fall color was spectacular this year along the River and hillsides. The staff was very helpful and went out of their way to help us with getting into a different site after we had a problem.

There were no Black transwomen present at the campground. This makes me feel unsafe as President Biden has told us all that white nationalist are our greatest threat.

New staff, just as helpful and friendly. It was sad to see so many trees had to be cut down but understandable. I've been visiting for over 35 years and plan to continue as our family enjoys the campground, river and surrounding attractions.

Great for kids floating on tubes. If you want less activity stay away from the river loops. Nice and flat campsites.

You must have your dogs on leash, inside your camper or in a "cage." Cage is narrowly defined by staff as a crate (it has to have a top on it). Camp staff regarded the x-pens we brought along so that we could enjoy being with our greyhounds just outside of our front door as "fences" and thus prohibited. We had to take our x-pens down but were told that we could use tethers. Tethers are ok if your dog is attended and the tethers are short. But they are dangerous for particular breeds, including greyhounds. My sense is that the "cage" vs. "fence" policy or rule is not a particularly well thought out. It is one that should be re-visited. Otherwise, we had a great stay. The staff was friendly. Thanks so much!

Very peaceful after dark. Clean facilities. Tent sites too close to trail. People constantly coming through our site. Would have preferred more privacy

The first of December finds Davidson River Campground sparsely populated. That was a positive for me. I slept in a sleeping bag inside my backpacking tent. It was cold, but I was very comfortable in my 0 degree bag on an inflatable mattress. Also, the warmth of the restrooms and showers made it really comfortable. In the evenings I found the fire pit excellent for cooking and as well to build a fire to warm myself up before going to sleep to the music of Davidson River. Davidson River Campground is within reach to many trails, and I was able to enjoy Looking Glass Mt, Pilot Mt, and Mt Pisgah hikes during the daytime and back at camp before sunset. I definitely plan to return before summer.
