Great family friendly campground. We have stayed on Hemlock loop for the last 17 years and love the proximity to the river and the swimming hole. It would be nice to have more electrical sites on the river side of this loop.

Hemlock 115 doesnt handle a lot of rain well. We had repeated bouts of heavy, heavy downpours that left the half of the site toward the road under an inch or two of water. It drained out relatively quickly but if youre expecting rain, set up further away from the road. Nice shade, good to be by the bridge, and a great home-base to explore Pisgah.

We enjoyed a nice long weekend camping in Hemlock Loop at Davidson River Campground. The colors were beautiful this time of year. The North Slope Trail was a nice hike with the trailhead right in the campground. A bike trail right outside the campground leads to the greenway in Brevard which takes you to Ecusta Trail Brewing and to Oskar Blues Brewery and very close to downtown Brevard which has many great restaurants and cute shops. There is also access to mountain bike trails right across the road from the campground. Great campground. Make reservations well in advance of your stay as it seems to stay booked.

Quiet river front camping. Bath houses a little rough but functional

Our site was flooded all weekend and next to a brand new storm drain that was non-functional so red clay was all around our site. Have stayed there for many years and on our 2nd night the senior citizen manning the Lights Out duty got "snippy". Probably just had some bad encounters with other users, but we got over it.The change to making the more private & quiet sites reserveable 6 months in advance makes it impossible for locals to go camping in this campground anymore. If you show up after a long drive or want to grab the family and run up for the weekend, you'll be forced into a long line of waiters & only be able to get the worst spots along the access road as the "Walk-up" spots, also known as BAD spots. It's turned the campground into a "plan in advance and sit ready at the computer at the hour the site you want becomes available" and hope it doesn't rain 6 months from now destination, rather than an enjoyable resource for people wanting to get away for the weekend. You also cannot leave during the daytime hours between May & August because there is a standstill line of traffic at the exit that is a 30-40 minute wait to leave the forest. It's looking more and more like an ugly dirt lot KOA.
