Pros: Large campsites, lots of trees, clean bath houses, many trails accessible from the campground, very quiet, feel immersed in natureCons: Showers in bath house in Hemlock loop run out of hot water fast, no cell signal and too many trees for Starlink to work well

Staff did a great job at cleaning the area after Helene. My site was clean of all debris including leaves. Restrooms were excellent. This campground went through a period of disrepair a few yrs back. The team managing it now has done an excellent job at bringing it back!

Though the campground was quite full for 4th of July week, I must say that everyone got pretty quiet by 10 or 10:30. The highway noise could get loud but not their fault. The sites were pretty spacious. My site provided some privacy which was great. I felt safe there and would stay there again. But on a negative note, for as much as I paid for 2 nights - $94 for an electric site - but no water, the showers really should have been hot and cleaner! The water which you had to keep pushing a button to run, was not even warm. Luckily it was July. But that would not work in cooler weather.

It’s been almost 25 years since I’ve been to Davidson River. It is a nostalgic place for me and was amazing to be back with my children, my siblings, and their grandparents. So much was just as I remembered but I could see improvements were in place. We stayed in hemlock 127. Great if you you need electric and close to the river. Also close to improved restrooms and showers. There was one new facility and an older one we didn’t visit. We rented an rv and only had availability 3 nights. With no water hookup for the size we rented and only took “military showers” and dishes and mid night use of restroom this was the max. It was nice to have updated clean facilities to use to offset. We had family stay in tents in the poplar loop and had to use their facilities a few times that were not as clean and up to date. We noticed there were containers going in to protect your food from wildlife but they missed it by a day or two so had raccoons help themselves to their car and tents when the accidentally left food out or windows open. My Florida kids that had never camped said this was their favorite vacation. Can’t wait till next time for more memories!

Rain. Not your fault

Nice, private sites but it seemed a little unkept. Ground could have been raked to clear some leaf debris.

Camping at Davidson River is like going home, my cares seem to fall away as I’m driving through the gate. After ten years, I’ve learned which loops I like the best. My site, #127, was private and quiet. The campground is perfect for bike riding, (flat!), close enough to Dolly’s Ice Cream shop and Walmart where I purchased a sketch pad. The Cradle of Forestry is a great place to visit. And, up the road a bit, Pisgah Inn is a great place for views and a good meal with a great gift shop. Most of all, the people working at the campground are helpful and pleasant.

Better Internet and cell phone connectivity would be nice.

We had a great site in the Hemlock loop, secluded by trees and just the right size. Bathrooms new and in great shape. Davidson River has many hiking, kayaking, fishing, biking opportunities, yet is close to the great town of Brevard. Enjoyed our stay!

RV Campsites are on hilly terrain, so be aware. Also, You have to carry in your tents in the "tents only" area and park a bit away from the tent site. Camp hosts were helpful though they contradicted what we were told by the on-line Recreation.gov representative, who said we could not change our site location on the same date as the reservation.

Nice place to unwind. We loved bicycling there.
