Amazing campground! The staff was super helpful and the campground itself is beautiful! It has a ton of trails inside the campground and multiple trails just outside of it as well. Will definitely be coming back in the future!

Beautiful campground. Very nice bathrooms and showers. There are so many sites to choose from. Had a great time riding our bikes and did some fishing. We will definitely be going back!!

Beautiful campsites with lots of room between sites. Great people at the entry who were helpful and friendly. My only complaint is with the showers. They were very clean and well maintained but the water pressure was so low the water barely makes it out of the shower head. Can something be done about that?

What a lovely, peaceful place! And, just 15 minutes from downtown Asheville! Staff at the park were extremely friendly and helpful!

Nice little spot in the woods. Easy to get to, very shaded. Short walk to the restrooms but wasn't a big deal. Almost no cell phone service, but that's the only negative I found.

It was a very nice area, with a very nice campground. The amenities were well maintained and the camp staff were excellent. The lake was just a short walk from our campsite and had a nice beach for my family and me to swim and relax at. The area had multiple hiking/biking trails available. Would highly recommend it.

The facility is remarkably well-maintained and has large and beautiful campsites. Personnel were respectful and helpful. This was a perfect experience. Firewood at $10 a bundle was the only disappointment and I hope that is readdressed soon.

Great campsite, well maintained and very clean restrooms. Be sure to arrive before dark or print directions because you will lose your GPS. One very small gripe is that one employee told us firewood was $4/bundle and next night it was $10/bundle.

Love this place! So many trails, fantastic people working there, and nicely designed bathrooms makes this a top campground in my book.

We camped in a 30’ fifth wheel over thanksgiving. I booked a site with no hook ups rated for our camper length. Getting into it was difficult but the site was well maintained and level. No grill, just a well made campfire ring. A charcoal grill would be nice when off grid.

Check in was “self serve” (gatehouse empty) but an overseer came by to fill us in on a few things, like bear precautions.

Bathhouses we’re well kept and warm. The dump station was hard to get it and out of, and had no water available. Not even a fawcet to rinse hands with. I assume it was due to cold weather freezing. It would have been nice to know so we could have planned for it. The potable water filler was turned off, too. We filled at a spigot provided for the tent campers.

In general, information was hard to come by, but it is a beautiful place and the forest hiking/biking trails are to die for. I’d say our difficulties were due to the season.

Great campground. Very positive, upbeat staff. Restrooms are not convenient to most sites. Convenient access to Asheville.
I do not like having to reserve only through Rec.gov. I prefer to scout the campground, choose my spot, then go back and pay. In this case, there was no internet or cell service so I had to drive to a high spot to connect, then choose a site at random without seeing it. When I decided to extend by one day, I had to do the same. Was told to extend through the campground but, as they had no internet or authority, I had to go back out to the highway to book the spot. Then was charged yet another $9 for a new reservation (which was kindly reimbursed, but required yet another step). PLEASE ALLOW US THE OPTION OF SOME FIRST-COME-FIRST-SERVED SITES AT CAMPGROUNDS. Not everyone travels to a fixed itinerary.

Sad they use a company to make reservations, what a rip. Charged $8 just to make a reservation, plus the h_ll going thur it. Could not pay at the gate like other Gov sites. Our tax dollars at Work. Double pay.

Great campground, but needs first-come, first-serve to be reinstated. The $8 reservation fee for a $12 booking (with senior pass) for one night is excessive.
