Its a pretty campground, but we had issues. The staff in sites near ours sped around the campground despite signs saying to go slow. We had kids riding bikes and it was dangerous with fast moving vehicles. We also had difficulty with the bathrooms. They were constantly without toilet paper and the doors kept locking requiring us to ask for assistance. Once they were unlocked, we were told we were the ones locking them in purpose. It was ridiculous.

Loved being in the woods surrounded by the peace of nature but yet close to business amenities and the perks of having access to the NC Arboretums trail systems

Large secluded sites. We stayed in December, so the park was nearly deserted. It didn't keep the daily hikers and bikers away, though. Miles and miles of trails.

A hidden gem nestled behind the Arboretum and close to everything! The full-hookup loop is booked up months in advance so staying there requires planning. Only downside is no cell phone signal.

We stayed in the Lakeside Loop and was absolutely fantastic. Only stayed two nights, but was great. Would definitely stay again.

I've only been to a handful of campgrounds since I got my RV two years ago but this one was the best so far. You are hard pressed to even see another RV through the trees and most of the time, all you hear are the birds. The campsites themselves are great, paved, perfectly level side to side (at least mine was), and each had a sturdy metal pole with hooks for attaching your pet's leash while you are outside.Probably not the best place for kids as there really is just not that much for them to do although I saw a couple there. Great if you want to ride your bike either on the paved roads in the campground or on the trails. Note that some of the trails get kind of rough with rocks and tree roots which are probably just what mountain bikers are looking for but not for casual riders. It's the mountains so terrain can get steep so an ebike is probably ideal. The lake is pretty but not big and you can't take your kayak out on it. The "beach" looked ok, but it is a lake beach which I've never really seen the point of. Met several nice people there and it is by far my cat's favorite destination so far. I could see going back to the campground every year.

Full hookups were great. The bath house was a little on the bad side though. It was newer and had plenty of room, but you couldnt control the water temperature and it was push button operated. You pressed a button and water came out for a short time, then went off. If you keep pressing the button so the water stays on, the hot water runs out pretty quick. You also cant adjust the position of the shower head. Because of this, we gave the facility a 4 instead of a 5 star review. It was the main detractor.

Beautiful park and campground. This is one of the cleanest, well-maintained, and friendliest campgrounds we have ever camped at in our five years of rv camping.

If you are a mountain biker look no further❤️

Poor cell service, facilities were clean and the park was quiet. Never spoke to the camp host although I think they drove by in a golf cart and waved. We stayed 2 nights no bugs about 20 min from Asheville got a very unwelcoming vib from the town, big difference from a year ago when we passed through around the same time.

I love Lake Powhatan. The camp sites are kept clean and tidy by the camp host immediately after campers have checked out. The bathrooms are clean and heated in the winter, with hot showers.
This campground has miles and miles of hiking trails and bicycle paths for the hearty riders. If you want a quiet time, fish on the pier at the beautiful lake.
I've already booked a site for the fall, and definitely recommend this campground to others seeking adventure.

This campground is great. The pads are large, the sites are clean. The pay system is easy. The campground hosts were very helpful. The price per night is worth it! We will visit again.
